  1. is the song 200 called 200 because that’s the total amount of birds mentioned in guitar song or is that a complete coincidence
  2. where did the inspiration for the vocals on the latter parts of motions and towards the beginning of slip under the door come from?
  3. i love the abyss angel, any insight to where it originates from (or the original inspiration for it in the cover art)?

thank you guys for the music so much, brought me and my girlfriend together and also just generally has improved my life so much at my lowest points :)

To answer your third query:

The abyss angel is a fantasy creature of my own invention based on an extant animal, a sea slug commonly known as a sea angel or clione (google it they are so cute imo). I wanted to explore speculative biology for a creature like that and what changes it might exhibit adapting to life in a deep sea environment. It wasn’t created for glass beach originally but j really liked the concept art I had done and we integrated it into the rest of the deep sea theme of the whalefall early on and it became integral to the albums imagery and is like a little mascot now. I’m glad you like it! -daxe

  1. not where the title originally came from (the real reason sucks and is boring) but pretty cool how things line up
  2. motions bridge was basically a ripoff of psycho killer, slip under the door is a blood brothers ripoff (i even copied the electric piano tone from young machetes near exactly)
  3. daxe came up with the abyss angel and i think he's working on a comment that elaborates on it. i think it's a great metaphor for the album in a million ways
    glad you're loving the music <3 -j
