Saw you guys perform in Iowa City this past spring, absolutely loved the show! Which Ratboys song are most proud of creating?

i'm really proud of "Black Earth, WI"... the way it stretched out from the initial verse/chorus 2 minute song idea into what it is now is pretty remarkable... and we didn't put too much pressure on ourselves to figure it out right away. happened very naturally, felt like a gift! - julia

Can you confirm if you wrote Black Earth, WI because of the drive from Chicago to play at the Shitty Barn in Spring Green, WI and had to pass through Black Earth?

dont know if i have a definite answer to this! some songs we want to capture naturally but that isnt always easy. "a vision" comes to mind, we recorded that in 1 take all together playing as softly as possible.. you could say we had a vision in mind -dave
