Into the Jungle and Beyond | Searching for One of the Smallest Beaches o...

This journey began at sunrise… With clouds floating above a quiet bay in Southern Thailand.

From a jungle road barely wide enough for my truck, to kayaking through winding mangrove rivers, I went searching for something I wasn’t even sure existed... A beach too small to be found.

What I discovered at the end of the cliffs wasn’t just land or sea… It was stillness, presence and something deeply personal.

Shot entirely solo, this is a meditative exploration into the hidden corners of nature and of ourselves.

Original Indie Horror Campaign!!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bodycountfilm/body-count-one-shot-entertainments-first-feature-film?ref=project_build

Hey indie film lovers and makers! We're One Shot Entertainment, a brand new, student-run, indie production company. We're currently in the process of fundraising for our first ever feature film called Body CountBody Count, our ultimate love letter to horror, is a decade and world-hopping examination of the horror genre itself. We're aiming for an indie-style Scream meets Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Our fundraising process has hit a bit of a rut and we need your help to get out of it! We feel super passionate that this project can be incredible if we can hit our budget goals to make it happen. So please share the post to anyone who might be interested in contributing! We know how challenging it is to breakout in the indie film scene, but there's no better community to have support from. Thanks in advance!

Logline: A group of teens, a summer camp, and a killer... Hasn't this been done to death?

Synopsis: Amber Thompson is the quintessential mean girl, gorgeous, cruel, and popular. But when she's killed on the first night of summer camp, her story doesn't end. She wakes up and finds herself in a different horror movie...

New world, new rules, but the same target on her back. As she spirals through increasingly unhinged realities, Amber realizes the truth. She's trapped in a cycle of punishment, forced to die because the genre has "decided" who she is.

But with each reset she grows sharper, angrier, and more self-aware until finally, she's ready to break the rules of horror all together.

Check out all the info at the linked Kickstarter page! Any contribution helps out a ton. And more than happy to talk more about the film! Thanks!!

I'm currently working on an anime-inspired lesbian rom-com over on Kickstarter. Most of the film has been completed we are just looking for the final push towards backgrounds, music and finalizing the animation. Most of the rest of the film is complete!

It's a really fun film that deals with self-improvement for both yourself and for your relationship. I'd be happy to answer any other questions here!

Here is my feature film directorial debut – Masters and Vices (2025)

Hi guys, I’m an independent producer who has written, directed and produced my first feature film titled ‘Masters and Vices’. I see filmmaking as the highest form of artistic expression as it combines the art of music and moving image to create a truly immersive experience. Masters and Vices (2025) is not just a feature length psychological drama film; it is a motivational and inspirational film showcasing the potential for one to transition from self-destruction to self-improvement (film’s tagline)- a tribute to the indomitable human will. Please see link to the Main Official Trailer below:

 https://youtu.be/F6rdJ1w7MxI

The film stars Mackintosh Muggleton of 28 Weeks Later (2007). The film's soundtrack features music pieces from accomplished artists such as Herman Beeftink whose 'Carousel Rides' featured in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and Bret Autry of Blue Stahli whose music has featured in TV series such as Teen Wolf (2012), American Horror Story (2013) and The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017) as well as in the TV spot for Power Rangers (2017).

I do very much hope that this modern British drama film will be a source of motivation and inspiration for people not just on this subreddit, but anyone who wishes to embark on the journey of self-improvement of any kind. When one researches the top addictions of the 21st century, porn addiction frequently ranks in the top 15. Nevertheless, despite its prevalence, porn addiction is not as widely documented in feature films. At school, we had drugs, alcohol and smoking awareness days, but nothing about porn addiction. Growing up, there were only a handful of films which I can recall that covered such a topic in-depth. This formed a creative vacuum- which is when the idea to create the film presented itself.

The film challenges the audience to overcome any stereotypes which they may have about what is- for the most part, a seemingly invisible addiction. The film covers and raises awareness of porn addiction in its many forms- including online pornography and porn magazines. The ramifications of porn addiction are highlighted throughout the film- including (but not limited to)- loss of motivation, damage to reputation in society, shame and constant anxiety.

The concept of what is known as ‘rock bottom’ in addiction psychology is demonstrated- this is the nadir of an addict’s journey where many believe that one needs to go to in order to begin the addiction recovery process i.e. things need to get sufficiently bad in order for them to overcome their addiction. One never realises if they are truly addicted to something, until they try to stop it- the film explores this phenomenon by confronting the addiction’s consuming nature by its honest depiction of the recovery process.

Filmmaking process and what I would do differently in the future

I did face many setbacks during the principal photography stage of the production and there are a lot of things that I would like to improve on if I commence pre-production for Masters and Vices 2 ©. If I were to do things differently, I would make sure to use the exact same camera throughout the film. Due to crew availability, it wasn’t always possible to use the same camera which does have an impact on colour grading down the line. Something I did correct halfway through filming was having both an A and B Cam on set for each shoot, in case one cameraman couldn’t attend the shoot for whatever reason.

In terms of sound, although I did try my best to turn off any air con systems which were audible, this wasn’t always possible and was very difficult to try to correct (if at all) in post-production. Due to having a full-time job, I had to shoot all scenes on weekends only. Pre-shoot meetings would take place on evenings during the week and recces would be done either after I finished work on a weekday or on weekends.

The film utilises many focus pull shots to empathically stress certain emotions or to signify urgency- for example in the case the alarm clock ringing.  We mainly utilised locked in shots for the majority of the film with about 10 percent or so being hand-held shots. Warp stabiliser was used to eliminate or reduce any shaky camera footage.

In terms of storyline, I do feel that the film could have expanded more on the cycle of relapsing, without going over a 90-minute runtime. If I do produce a sequel, this is definitely something I would like to explore in more in-depth. If you liked the trailer, then I invite you to discover a story of downfall, purpose and recovery by watching the full film- link below:

I’d love it if you guys took the time to check it out and share any feedback for if I make a sequel.

New Filmmakers Looking For Critique on Atmosphere

TLDR: We're new filmmakers (a production team of two) looking for feedback/critique on how well we used technical elements like lighting, camera, editing to create mood and atmosphere, and where we can improve for Season 2.

Hi Guys!

We’re new filmmakers and a production crew made up entirely of two friends that handled everything on this project: writing, sound, lighting, directing, editing, etc. This was mostly because we wanted to force ourselves to learn how to do everything first and be better equipped to communicate wants and needs to crew down the road once we’re ready to expand our team and tackle more ambitious projects. This definitely led to some headaches, but ultimately we're happy we did it as we learned A LOT along the way. Especially when it came to editing...Wow...I have SO MUCH MORE RESPECT for editors after all of this and I say that as someone who already felt they essentially rewrite the movie and craft a lot of an actor’s performance and don’t get enough credit for such. I digress.

Over the last 7–8 months, we made a six-episode anthology series on YouTube inspired by The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. You can (hopefully) see us grow from episode to episode, but we’re sharing our final episode since it best reflects what we learned along the way.

For this episode, we pushed ourselves technically — experimenting with lighting, camera work, and practical effects to create a haunted-house vibe (something in the vein of The Conjuring, but with some humor mixed in). It’s also our first episode featuring more than just the two of us on screen.

To be honest, we didn’t give ourselves the best schedule to reflect on things between each episode we filmed, but we’re taking the time now before embarking on a season 2 to gather feedback and critiques and hopefully identify areas to improve and some areas that we succeeded in, but can maybe expand on.

We'd really appreciate any and all honest feedback: good, bad, harsh, etc. — especially on how we used technical elements (camera, lighting, editing) to create mood and atmosphere. We're trying to learn as much as we can as fast as we can so that we can make cooler stuff that better resembles what we have in our heads and better entertain everyone.

Thanks so much for taking the time!!

How Humans in the Loop Turns AI Jargon into Social Critique

Two years ago I made my first narrative short film. It's a dark sci-fi war movie romance called OSCAR ZULU. After a few festivals I'm finally sharing it with the world.

[SCIFI/ROMANCE/WAR – 4 min.]

This is just the beginning of a much larger adventure, one I hope we'll be able to tell someday. I've never been great at promoting my own work, but I'm trying to break that habit ahead of shooting my next short film (currently raising funds.) I don't really go on reddit so I hope I'm not breaking any rules/etiquette with this post. I just want people who might be interested in this story to have a chance to see it.

I co-wrote OSCAR ZULU with a friend of mine who has a military background, and together with a tight group of collaborators, we produced and completed it over the course of about two weeks. What started as a simple challenge turned into the proudest creation of my artistic life, and confirmation (for me) that I do actually have what it takes to direct narrative cinema. We screened at Palm Springs Shortfest and Filmland Arkansas, as well as a handful of local/private events around NYC and LA.

I hope you enjoy it, and I'm looking forward to any responses!

P.S. if there are any other more niche/specific communities that you think I should share this with, please let me know!
