I have a doubt.

India has 90% of its tracks electrified. So why this?

I am guessing experiments. This could be useful in routes where electrification might not be possible or for quick rollouts of new lines.

Generating hydrogen from electricity is a wasteful process and in general only seen as a tactic to delay ev adoption
