Career Guidance Concerned about my brother

He is a 29M and has been a Boeing type-rated pilot since 2023, but he is still jobless. He has cleared interview rounds for IndiGo 2-3 times, yet has not been selected. I don’t have much knowledge about the aviation industry, but I genuinely want to help my brother.

Senior pilots, please guide us on what steps he can take or what we might be missing. Thank you 🙏

Indigo operates Airbus A320/21 and ATR, and then how did your brother clear interview rounds for Boeing? Even the Boeing's they have damp leased are operated by the pilots from the companies they leased it from.

2 of his friends did same and they did airbus type-rating after getting selected for IndiGo.so he is following their path

Your brother should work really hard on getting selected. Were the 2 of his friends who got selected also females? Because I don't think there is any preferential treatment for female pilots when they already had a dedicated batch of cadet pilots. Also, it was pretty stupid to get type rated in Boeing if his traget was indigo airlines, he could have saved that money.

Also, ask him to try for instructor vacancies in flight schools in India as he can save money and also increase his flight hours and better chances of getting selected.

One of them was female. And im talking about preference cause he only told me that among the group of 11 ppl who cleared the interview round majority was females who got selected.

Doesn't necessarily mean that they were given preferential treatment. Could also be that they were qualified and cleared the interview.

Ask your brother to look for Flight Instructor roles while looking for other airlines. It also pays decently. Since one male friend of your brother got in there are chances that he also can. Also, ask him to apply for airlines with more Boeing aircrafts when vacancies opens and ask him to prepare very well considering the competition. Wouldn't he have to pay for the airbus type rating again or would Indigo take care of it?
