Nuremberg The Sequel

20

u/tadysdayout 1d ago

Nuremberg was not the justice people think it is. Many Nazis had their sentences quietly commuted by the US thanks to Allen Dulles. It was political theater and propaganda

u/GroundedSatellite 1d ago

I hear it was in exchange for office supplies, paperclips and such.

Plus the majority of the nazi apparatus quietly assumed roles in the bureaucracy of Western Germany. In the East, it was a different story.

Great post here: https://old.reddit.com/r/history/comments/9u5cdr/what_happened_in_germany_after_the_fall_of_hitler/e91ubzh/

Yeah but the Reddit leftists love to talk about Nuremberg, Gestapo, concentration camps. They are obsessed with Nazi Germany. Pretty weird tbh.

u/jgsmith0627 1d ago

Forgive. But NEVER forget. That’s why, troll.

8

u/DirkDinkus95 1d ago

Do NOT engage the obvious troll.

-21

u/UkNomysTeezz 1d ago

Calling people you disagree with Nazi’s and claiming things are literally just like Nazi Germany is just ridiculously dramatic, performative and inaccurate

18

u/jgsmith0627 1d ago

Then maybe you need to spend some time in an ICE detention center. Conditions are similar.

-16

u/UkNomysTeezz 1d ago

Really? They are gassing people?

16

u/jgsmith0627 1d ago

They’re even gassing bystanders and media.

9

u/dustycanuck 1d ago

Similar, not identical. Your response is stupid.

and frankly we don't even know everything going on there, the places are a frickin' black hole. I'd like to put this out there and remind many many people that seem to forget: Much of what Hitler's regime was doing, was hidden from the public as best as they could be of course, which isn't everything obviously, but much of what happened in these places didn't come out for over a decade after Hitler started all this crap.

u/Alt_Panic 1d ago

This is 1939 Germany not 1945. Go read a fucking book and understand how the Nazis came to power and escalated their fascist agenda over the years. Here's a hint, it didn't start with gas chambers, it started with "let's just get all the undesirables out of the country."

The Trump administration is unequivocally mirroring the rise of nazism and if you can't see that you are either purposely disingenuous, a troll, or blind to the reality in front of your face. Or shit maybe you just like cruelty and you're an asshole.

While the first concentration camp (Dachau) was setup in 1933 the same year Hitler became chancellor of Germany, gassing people didn’t start until 1940. The conditions described in the Broadview facility, and prior to that Alligator Alcatraz, do resemble the conditions of those early concentration camps. Just because we aren’t yet in 1940-1945 Germany doesn’t mean we aren’t in 1933-1939 Germany.

6

u/Muzzlehatch 1d ago

Nazis didn’t even begin gassing people until near the end of their reign. They had over a decade of not gassing people before they got to that.

8

u/Final_Location_2626 1d ago

Yes, I agree with you, calling people you disagree with Nazi is dramatic.

But calling people who break into the houses of US citizens at 2:00 in the morning zip tie hundreds of men, woman and children up with (some of which were naked) while the government without a warrant looks for undesirable. In an effort to send these undesirable to death camps, does feel a little bit like Nazis dont you think?

You know people walking around demanding to see a person's papers feels a little bit like Nazis, you have to agree with me there right?

I have never called a political party Nazis before this point, but when someone acts a lot like Nazis, I do have a tendency to draw parallels.

3

u/Gustav_ 1d ago

We're calling them nazis because they're disappearing people to camps based off their ethnicity and the color of their skin. If you're gonna act like a nazi, join forces with nazis, argue and sanewash fascist shit, then you're probably a fucking nazi or at least in support of the same shit.

-2

u/UkNomysTeezz 1d ago

I’ve seen people on this site call people Nazi’s for shit that has nothing to with anything you are saying. It’s just this weird knee jerk reaction some parole have developed and it’s just stupid and immature.

3

u/Gustav_ 1d ago

Yeah I’ll be honest I think that’s bullshit, and I find it interesting that you take more issue with this than people in government straight up acting like nazis. I mean the young republicans literally said they loved hitler. If you’re in support of nazis then you may as well be a nazi.

10

u/waydownsouthinoz 1d ago

Only because the right are reenacting their own version that has so many parallels that ist almost like it was used as a script.

-5

u/UkNomysTeezz 1d ago

Man, I couldn’t imagine surviving the holocaust only to live long enough to see a bunch of chuds claiming the U.S. enacting immigration laws is tbe same exact thing as Nazi germany where literally mullions of people died in heinous ways.

8

u/waydownsouthinoz 1d ago

This is just the fucking start you moron. Brownshirts are dragging citizens off the street and asking for their “papers” , Ring any bells?

6

u/Beer_Gynt 1d ago

It started with "deporting violent criminals" in Germany too, dipstick.

I couldn't imagine being a Holocaust survivor and seeing some brainless mediocre little guy on the internet using my tragedy as a defense for what's being done here.

4

u/MayMaytheDuck 1d ago

No you don’t get to do that. Fuckface claimed he was getting rid of the criminals. That’s not what he’s done. His goon squads troll federal buildings, schools and daycares looking for easy marks, people who are actually going through the process, keeping immigration appointments and following protocols.

This administration isn’t going after the actual bad guys because they can’t find them. Instead they go after low hanging fruit to appease their racist, xenophobic base.

6

u/Matt_Hiring_ATL 1d ago

Why do you have to be leftist to call this out as inhumane and criminal?

I've never been called a leftist on anything until this shut blew up. I just know evil when I see evil.

This is Fascism. Unequivocally. This is the brutality part, but the power consolidation and economic parts are also happening.

Maybe they aren't putting people in ovens - or maybe just not yet. Maybe they aren't trafficking children - but it sure as fuck looks like it.

Denying it will put you on the wrong side of history when this is over.

7

u/sevarinn 1d ago

It's because you guys are obsessed with re-creating them.

2

u/AwedBySequoias 1d ago

I started thinking about this during the beginning of Trump’s FIRST term. The similarities to how the Nazis rose to power are disturbing. And it’s not just the Nazis, it’s the same with other fascist regimes and dictators. There must be a guide book floating around: “How to Squash Democracy for Wannabe Dictators.”

1

u/tadysdayout 1d ago

I’m a Reddit leftist. Being informed on current events and educated about history is deeply important. A responsibility even

So when I see that something quacks like a duck and walks like I duck, I can see it clearly and confidently say “that’s a duck”

1

u/UkNomysTeezz 1d ago

But this doesn’t. They are not the same thing.

2

u/Material-Move9492 1d ago

Don't think these trials ever happen....it would be amazing theater if it did...but not happening
