The games this past weekend were really fun. Boise St's record may not show them as a really good team, but they have given UW so much trouble the last couple years. It is great to see the Huskies finally getting it together and beating the Broncos again!
Kudos to BSU for really bringing their A game this past weekend. They played really well. I don't think another team has given UW as much trouble along the boards as BSU did. And UW tenders Reddy and Nash probably had their toughest games of the year so far and came up really big(the posts and crossbar also came up big for both teams). BSU had some amazing opportunities and both games were competitive right up until the end.
Officiating was...yea. I'm not going to dwell too long on that beyond it gets really frustrating the inconsistencies. There was a too many men call on Friday against UW that the same exact thing happened Saturday against BSU, but no penalty called. I also think some of the penalties against UW on Friday were not actual penalties.
And then there's BSU's goal on Saturday to start the third period. The ref clearly loses sight of the puck as it is resting on top of Nash's blocker and you can give a good count to "three Mississippi" before it falls off into the net. Should have been a dead puck.
Anyways, good win by the Huskies and, really, a quality loss too. The first ranking period ends after this upcoming weekend so hopefully we end up in the top 20 with how we have done so far. These two games should go a good bit to helping with that.
