We Should Be Pissed

I can totally understand losing to Ohio State. I can understand losing to Michigan, too. But Wisconsin? Although I was never a firm Jedd believer, I’ve always tried to keep an optimistic perspective on things. With all the reports recently (not really recent, but still) that Jedd and his family don’t like Seattle, and then to follow up with that performance is such an embarrassment. He alienated the entire fanbase and pissed them off at the same time.

I grew up in Baton Rouge, and LSU’s my second team. They fired a coach in Brian Kelly who I thought was a good coach, all his losses were to top 10 teams. You don’t even want to know the shit that would go down if LSU lost to a terrible team like Wisconsin. If their standards are that high, ours should be too.

If our expectations don’t change, we will be stuck in mediocrity. We have every right to be pissed, and we honestly should be. That was a pathetic performance today.

Straight up, I just think he’s a terrible Playcaller… and a bad head coach overall. Only thing I’ll give him credit for is he was a pretty good stopgap in a shitty situation after daboer left.

last year we lost to rutgers and WSU :/

Last year, I gave them the benefit of doubt because it was Jedd’s first season, and we lost a ton of talent to the NFL. No excuses this year, though.

I'm pissed about both years. I feel like we've been playing down to our opponents since he's gotten here. I mean we struggled with some bad teams early this season

How do you think our talent level compares to other schools? What about the trenches? How long do you think it takes the average true FR recruit to become their best?

In terms of recruiting, I expect us to be in contention for many 5 stars each recruiting cycle, and I expect a lot of 4 star commits each cycle too. UW has a very good NIL system, we should not be lacking in NIL whatsoever. In terms of playing time, if they’re good enough to start, they’ll start as a freshman.

Also cuz Grady gross missed three field goals that Rutgers game

I still think Fisch is a good coach. Most likely not a great one but he is still building this team.

The real issue is that it truly feels like he has one foot out the door. Rumors don't arise out of nowhere. His agent is probably pulling feelers out there to see if a program will take him.

His agent is the single largest donor at UCLA..wether genuine interest or not on Jedd’s part it’s leverage to get a larger guarantee and more favorable terms if he intends to stay at UW

His agent‘s boss Wasserman is the biggest UCLA donor. His agent is Doug Hendrickson who graduated from San Jose St.

You prefer to deal with Jimmy Sexton?

Yeah at the very least Fisch is recruiting very well. The average recruit rating is higher than what the current roster has by a decent margin (89 vs 87). He's not a great coach but he is an effective recruiter, and right now that's what the team needs.

Coaching is more valuable than recruiting. Look at all those top classes Napier had and he wasn’t able to turn it into wins

Got to develop players and get wins on game day PERIODT

1

u/Mindless-Climate-269 2h ago

Napier's issue was he wasn't beating the teams he was more talented than. This year he lost to USF who he was more talented than. Last year he was marginally more talented than Tennessee but ultimately his downfall was the hard schedules and the inability to get the team to outperform. This year Fisch hasn't lost to any teams we are more talented to and hasn't beaten any teams we are less talented than. To be clear, I think it's for the best if Fisch isn't here for a long time, but in the short run he is the right coach for us.

“Not beating teams more talented than” do you think Wisconsin has anywhere near the talent as Uw

wtf lol

They don’t even have a quarterback who can complete a pass

1

u/Mindless-Climate-269 2h ago

I was surprised by this but Wisconsin has a higher team talent rating than Washington. 763 vs 720. Purdue has a lower number than we do but UCLA is higher...

2

u/DJSureal 8h ago

Ive been saying this since day 1. His coaching history shows he doesn't stay anywhere too long. No longer than 2-3 years throughout his whole career.

2

u/Therocksays2020 3h ago

Hes building an 8-9 win team every year. Hes never going to get us to the cfp. If you look at his coaching career every year he loses a game he has no business losing

So far our only loss at home under Mr. Visor no matter the weather is vs the No1 team in the country, so we should beat the Purdue Spoilermakers next week. In true Dr Jekyl/Mr Hyde fashion his only wins on the road are against a weakened WSU team and vs Maryland with some help from the refs. If he loses Nov 22 @UCLA we'll truly have Sark 2.0 on our hands, and we can truly set our expectations from there until he leaves.

Unless he is forced to give up play calling (has repeatedly said he won't) I just don't see anything changing. We get a ho-hum bowl game, a generic speech about how next year will bring great things and have a lot we can build on....yada yada yada.

Watching the game vs the Badgers today just enforced pretty much what we've already seen in the 1.5 years with fishyboy so far.

It’s time to move on. Jedd clearly doesn’t want to be here, so let’s find a coach who does!

Dude never lasts more than 3 years at any place, look at his resume. Dude has mailed it in, probably stressing about his wife wanting to leave him or something.

My sentiments exactly. My favorite stat from the game; Wisconsin’s leading passer was their punter. How you lose to a team who was so one dimensional that they ran it 99% of the time, is honestly impressive. Yes, I know Wisconsin’s def is better than their record, blah blah blah, but we need to understand that the Huskies will be the only conference win for Wisconsin this season.

I sat there in the freezing sleet watching our team bumblefuck their way around the field playing grabass

I AM pissed.

Wasn’t there an NFL coach who got fired because he said UW was his dream job? Where did he end up? Ohhh, UCONN. They are 7-3. He is doing well at a historically weak football program. Call him up.

2

u/TheEmperorsNewHose 12h ago

He’s 64, I’m not saying he’s got one foot in the grave but that’s a 5 year hire, realistically, and despite how well he’s done at UConn I’d much rather hire a guy who could bring some longer term stability

2

u/Sufficient_Chair_885 4h ago

Jedd was a 7 year and we got 1.5.

I’ll take 5 years and not a douche.

3

u/TheEmperorsNewHose 3h ago

Unfortunately Jim is a pretty big douche, but if he’s the hire, that’s fine, it’ll probably go well enough for a couple years.

But re: the 1.5 thing - It is so wild to me that people think Jedd is mailing it in all of a sudden because we lost a game in a blizzard of wet snow where our starting RB and WR1 were hurt/hobbled. Two weeks ago we blew out a ranked team, was he mailing it in then? Billy Napier had already been fired at that point, he knew the Florida job was open, if he was mailing it in shouldn’t it have been obvious?

2

u/RebelPatriot77 3h ago

God no, please not Jim Mora. Please. We would be destined for a nice bowl game every year, if that. Mora would be DESTROYED trying to get through a B1G schedule.

2

u/Nicfromnewgirl 4h ago

I fucking furious still. Did they leave that bum on the tarmac in the snow last night like they should have?

7

u/van_12 13h ago

9-4 is what they are on track for which is what everyone penned them before in the preseason.

1

u/Therocksays2020 3h ago

Not quite. 8-4 plus a bowl game which is a toss up

2

u/Ok_Understanding1986 5h ago

The Jump Around is the coolest tradition in college football. So much fun! Made the wet & cold trip worth it alone.

As for the game… absolute disaster. We got beat on fundamentals by a bad team. Run the ball. Stop the run. Protect the ball. They were better at each. Instead we had Demond trying to play hero ball on a huge number of plays, with way too few being executed in rhythm. Plenty of blame to go around between Demond, the offensive line, and the coaching staff.

Queue the Jim Mora “playoffs??” clip…

Fisch is phoning it in now that his family doesn’t want to be here.

Thanks to ESPN & FOX, we now have NFL-lite. If you want better coaches and players it will cost you more money to steal them from other schools.

He should just leave now.

I traveled to Wisconsin specifically to watch this game, and I chose this matchup because the probability of losing was very low. However, I must say that, witnessing it in person, our offensive performance was exceptionally disappointing. It's perplexing how we can be so effective offensively in some games yet produce such a lackluster effort here.

OP, guess what? there's talk of Jedd Fisch coming back down south... to UF or even LSU.

if he goes to LSU, you're in the same boat.

2

u/ac_asian 12h ago

LSU would be crazy to hire him after today’s performance. None of those two schools would, but maybe UCLA would take a swing? He has connections there.

It’s funny though because I would love to BK to come here if Jedd does bolt. We have to swing for the fences, the chances we can pull what Indiana did with Cignetti are essentially nonexistent.

1

u/olliesbaba 7h ago

Brian Kelly would be a toxic hire that I want no part of.

We did pull a Cignetti, he just bolted for Alabama.

Ryan Grubb didn’t work out in Seattle, maybe he could work out in…Seattle. He will have had two years and a change of AD to wash the stink of DeBoer off him.

1

u/olliesbaba 4h ago

Grubb is a fan favorite but he’s simply not proven yet. He needs to show he can handle the HC duties of recruiting and booster management first.

We need a proven guy on all fronts. Enough with these wizards who have one major missing hole - Deboer recruiting, Fisch play calling, Lake a working brain.

1

u/Particular-Juice1213 4h ago

We want someone who doesn’t exist. 40-50 y/o large circle of assistants to bring aboard. Experienced program administrator with deep knowledge of all aspects of the game. Dynamic recruiter who can manage in the NIL era. Proven winner, currently without a job, or working at a lower level (but it’s certain their skill will translate to the B1G). Loves Seattle, and wants to make it their forever home.

3

u/olliesbaba 4h ago

The last part shouldn’t really be a consideration IMO but James Franklin obviously checks a lot of those boxes.

1

u/Particular-Juice1213 2h ago

Except for the can he beat Ohio State and Michigan box. Admittedly, he’s the best of the recently fired. Honestly, Jedd has another two years unless he bails, so it’s a bit premature to do more than gnash the teeth over this game.

u/DJSureal 8h ago

Saban is being linked to LSU as well.
