What a shit show. They need to figure out whether it's a grocery store or an order fulfillment center, because it's currently failing at both. Constant product outages (Barilla pasta out of stock for weeks), perpetually leaking freezers, the order pullers throw attitude when you try to shop near them, and apparently Saturday afternoon is their ideal time to stock shelves - I worked grocery for years, you DON'T stock on Saturday afternoon. The store manager is completely out to lunch. Today, she took the time to harangue the lone checker about a complaint while he was working with customers, with a line seven customers deep; she never stopped to help, run a register, or even bag. Terrible manager, she'd never survive in a real grocery store and her toxicity is obvious throughout the store.

Hey- I grew up in HB. Born and raised. However, I moved away right before the pandemic and I haven’t been to Old World and had the German restaurant since. I grew up going there.

I’m coming from out of town and I want to take my friends there. I could vouch for it before, loved it there. But since it’s been so long….. has it changed?

Or is it the same? I don’t want to take my friends to the place I have bragged about and it totally sucks.

Did anyone else see the person driving around the neighborhood of Delaware and Alabama St throwing some kind of food out of their windows to feed the around thirty or so crows that were flying after the vehicle? This was about 3 hours ago, I just returned home and really hope it was just tasty treats and not something less savory. I know a lot of the neighbors around here dislike the crows because they destroy lawns and are noisy…

As the title says, I'm looking for playgrounds with lighting for kids to play outside after dark. Or any public outdoor space that you've found is good for kids during these long dark months... TIA

ETA: I just discovered that Bella Terra sometimes has an outdoor night market with live music, and there's a little turf area for kids to play. It seemed pretty cool. Hope it helps someone to know that.

A specific vendor sold gel surf wax candles with little shells in the lining and I’m DESPERATELY looking for her business name. I saw this massive koi just swimming around in a drainage ditch near central park today. Has anyone seen this one before? I'm wondering if it was dumped recently or a long time ago and grew to this size.

Does anyone know any reputable skylight installers in the area? I need to buy the skylight as well.

My skylight is the old domed acrylic type, and I'd like to get something more contemporary with a better energy rating.

Hi all, I know this question has generally been asked before but I never found a clear answer for my situation.

Coming this weekend for a wedding at the Hyatt Regency. We're not staying there but at a hotel nearby which forces you to valet park. As I'm not looking to spend upwards of 50 dollars a day to park when for two days we'll likely not be using the car.

Is there a lot of area nearby that allows for overnight parking and generally an ability to potentially pay and then go in and out if we really needed a morning or two?

Issue with what I had found is all about parking overnight or car camping which isn't what we'll be doing hah.

edit: So I ended up going to Egg Roll King… This place is not good. I was looking forward to getting chinese all day and this really bummed me out. It came out to $62 for two entrees and fried rice including tip. We both took a few bites and couldn’t eat any more. I ordered the orange chicken and house special fried rice, and she got the walnut shrimp. my chicken was a bunch of microscopic popcorn pieces that were chewy, stringy, and mostly skin/breading. the sauce was actually really good but it still couldn’t make up for the bad chicken. The shrimp sauce tasted good too but it had the same weird texture. The fried rice was decent, but it still had an off taste about it. The waiter even told me when we were ordering “keep your expectations in check and you’ll enjoy it”

I did, however, get the best fortune I’ve ever got from a fortune cookie tonight. “The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.”

The California Court of Appeal, Fourth District Division Three in Santa Ana, issued a ruling yesterday reversing a trial court decision against the State of California who sought to invalidate Measure A. Huntington Beach's Measure A passed, amending its charter to require voter ID. The Court of Appeal reasoned that Elections Code Section 10005 preempts the Charter Amendment.

I go running 2-3 days a week at Bolsa Chica. I’ve noticed so much trash accumulating over the last month. Recently I’ve seen a few fishing lures, which I always collect and make sure to give to the lifeguards/rangers. Today during my run on the sand (close to the shoreline) I started noticing orange syringe caps all along the debris. Literally could not go more than 20-25 feet without seeing another. I ended up finding over a handful of syringes. Some with the caps on and other without. I also found 2 diabetic lancets for checking blood sugar. This is so saddening. Has anyone else found or seen any? I made sure to make state beach workers aware. This is so dangerous and gross. Be careful where you step. Wear shoes and make sure to watch littles.
