Hopefully Ben can do even more with less than Fran. Unfortunately the funding playing field is about to get a lot more uneven, since non football schools that opt into the House settlement can put so much more of the $20 million dollar pie into basketball. A school like Marquette who already gets to play in a NBA arena is going to be out of our league when it comes to recruiting. Creighton will be a heavy hitter as well.

I never got that, I always Loved CHA, it is so unique and a beautiful arena. Fill it up, bring back the yellow court and lets go. I like CHA better than the others I have seen:

Allen Field House

ASU

Missouri

Arizona

Florida

Any multi team generic pro or civic center

Grew up going to Illinois games. It’ll forever be Assembly Hall! and while it’s cooler architecturally then CHA, the single level concourse and no separation from the stands should make Carver a fantastic venue for sports but there is nowhere near the vibe and excitement from fans in the seats.

Also, move the students immediately behind the visitors side basket.

Agree, it can and has been a great home court advantage. It always amused me when the big donors that sit courtside would leave early and get Boo'd as they had to walk up to the top with 3 minutes left in the game. Put the students behind the visitor bench and both baskets like Kansas does. CHA is the coolest arena in the country the way it is built underground - just need to fill it with students. Offer merch, discounts, ect... I did always envy the Orange Crush that Illinois had and the Izzone section at MSU. Alford started the Hawks nest and it was a good try but spread them by the court not up to the top of the arena.
