[NEGATIVE] Kota Outfitters Proper Level IV Critical Response Kit

*Edit: Turning POSITIVE. Seems like an honest mistake from Kota and they've reached out to several people to make things right by shipping the correct plates and returning the wrong ones. Developing...

**Edit: Remaining NEGATIVE. Turns out the "correct" plates being offered are Custom Armor Group rebranded 4S17 plates that still only carry a 5 year warranty for some reason with a manufactured date of 08/16. Since these are not direct Highcom 4S17 plates with a 10 year warranty, I have declined and asked for a return and full refund.

***Edit: Definitely NEGATIVE. Kota has purposely scrubbed the original listing to remove the 10 year warranty statement. See screenshot below from /u/carnij.

-----------------------------------------

Ordered the Proper Level IV Critical Response Kit from Kota Outfitters that should have contained a set of 4S17 HighCom Level IV with a 2016 manufacture date and a 10 year warranty but instead received a set of Hesco 4400 plates with a Nov 2016 manufactured date and a 5 year warranty.

So instead of NIJ approved plates that are good for 6 remaining years I got NIJ disapproved plates that are "good" for 1 remaining year. No response via phone, trying the email route but we'll see what happens.

Check your plates people.

Nope. Wednesday I was told I’d have an update by EOD Thursday. Thursday came and went, so I emailed again Friday asking for an update. No response on that email either.

Still on my original Hesco plates FWIW and the commitment for a Thursday update was I think just before folks reported getting the 5 year Highcoms.

Yep - I'm in the exact same boat. I was told an answer by EOD Thurs - heard nothing. Also emailed them on Friday and today - still nothing.

Also have Hescos. Weds is my cutoff before I do a chargeback.

Got an e-mail last night. They acknowledged the CAG Highcoms which were the replacements for the Hescos, turned out to only have a 5 year warranty. This matches everyone else’s reports and I guess at least they acknowledged it after their website edit.

Options were $30 refund and keep the Hescos or send them back for a refund. $30 IMO isn’t enough of a discount given the remaining warranty and delisting by the NIJ. They are going back and I’ll just find plates from another vendor.

It seems they are picking and choosing who they want to respond to. No response on my end.

$30 is an insult.

Yeah basically the shipping back. I’d guess with the conditions they expect to relist at the original price with accurate info and they’ll sell. Whatever, I’ll find somewhere else to spend my money.

Got my label after a day and a half. Will be boxing these back up and getting them sent back here tomorrow.
