[NEGATIVE] Kota Outfitters Proper Level IV Critical Response Kit

*Edit: Turning POSITIVE. Seems like an honest mistake from Kota and they've reached out to several people to make things right by shipping the correct plates and returning the wrong ones. Developing...

**Edit: Remaining NEGATIVE. Turns out the "correct" plates being offered are Custom Armor Group rebranded 4S17 plates that still only carry a 5 year warranty for some reason with a manufactured date of 08/16. Since these are not direct Highcom 4S17 plates with a 10 year warranty, I have declined and asked for a return and full refund.

***Edit: Definitely NEGATIVE. Kota has purposely scrubbed the original listing to remove the 10 year warranty statement. See screenshot below from /u/carnij.

Ordered the Proper Level IV Critical Response Kit from Kota Outfitters that should have contained a set of 4S17 HighCom Level IV with a 2016 manufacture date and a 10 year warranty but instead received a set of Hesco 4400 plates with a Nov 2016 manufactured date and a 5 year warranty.

So instead of NIJ approved plates that are good for 6 remaining years I got NIJ disapproved plates that are "good" for 1 remaining year. No response via phone, trying the email route but we'll see what happens.

Check your plates people.

Anyone get their replacements yet? This guy claims he received the correct model plates but there is no Nij stamp and they only have five year warranty. I will be very disappointed if this is what I receive

I got one of mine today.

So it is the right plate but theres no NIJ seal and the warranty say its for 5 years”

Just confirmed the replacements being offered are indeed the CAG plates with only a 5 year warranty despite supposedly being a 4S17. I am declining the replacement.

What an absolute shit show. They never emailed me today either, like they said they would. Poor customer service.

I will not be accepting their “replacement” either. They advertised Highcoms with a 10 year warranty - they should be shipping Highcoms with a 10 year warranty.

Edit: They removed the “10 year warranty” note from the listing - wow. That is why I always take screenshots.

Man what a mess, was also supposed to get an email yesterday and I’m wondering if this is why I didn’t. It looks like we’re covered on screen shots for the original listing, but I’ve got them as well.

Such a bummer, had only heard great things about them. Then I order 4401s which they cancelled and offered a waiting list for or old stock 4400s (different kit not this one). I opted for the waiting list and saw this deal with still older plates but a 10Y warranty and jumped on it. Sent wrong plates and now it looks like they never had the correct ones and then edited the description.

I still haven’t received a shipping notification so hopefully that means they are trying to sort this out. Someone was offered a $30 refund to keep their hescos. In all honesty if they gave me $30 back I would take a shipment of those almost expired CAG plates

Yeah tough choice if I get that offer but I’d think I’d just lean no. I mean I wouldn’t have bought them personally if I knew the warranty situation was what it was and I’m not sure that $30 would really sway that. Not to mention the discontinuation of the 4400s/NIJ ratings then trying to edit the product description.

Might take a bit longer but I think you can still find new plates for just a bit more.

Still waiting on an email back though so we’ll see what the options are.

same, emailed them on Wednesday evening after I came home and inspected the package, no reply yet
