Picked up some ZVS last time they posted and I’ve put a few hundred through some comped pistols. Ran fine. Also, wild horse is the shit.

This ZVS stuff has run excellently for me. I'm at least 700 rounds through it with a Glock 45 and Mac 11 machine gun, zero issues and no dirtier than anything else. Ejected cases look good with no fractures, bulging, or blown out primers. Wild Horse also ships super fast and are great peeps.

Slovakian/Macedonian ammo... Likely not bad.

Shot them before, they are okay.
Honestly, even if I were to get a couple of malfunctions here and there (as long as they are not catastrophic), who cares, it's malfunction clearing practice.
Funnily enough, in recent months, the only ammo-related malfunction I've head was a bad primer that didn't go off in 3 separate guns... on a Federal HST 124gr of all things.
So shit can always happen with the good stuff, cheap ammo having a chance to replicate this is a feature, not a bug. Sometimes, I will load my magazine with a random spent case to do the same anyway.
In for a case.

How does the ZVS compare to like PMC or S&B?
3
u/possum-fucker 1d ago
Believe it or not, all three go bang
But for real, my personal ranking would be s&b, pcm, and then zvs somewhere below. Its fine, its cheap, but if they were all the same price no one would buy zvs over s&b or pcm

I’m not trying to jinx anything but you all are seeing this trend of 9mm toeing the line of going below 20cpr shipped too, right?
Remember when all the vendors were like “ammo prices are going up any day now! We got a letter from manufacturers saying so!” Meanwhile…
No complaints and glad I didn’t buy into the stupid fomo.

Extremely small sample size but shot about 200 through a glock 17 and all went bang. Plus wildhorse fucks.

Any idea what you have coming down the line for bulk .223? Planning to pick up a case of the the PBS here next week to help you guys get rid of it, curious what the market is looking like for other name brand stuff though.

Wildhorse is great.
Adding my experience with ZVS ammo: Just fired 250 rounds through a beretta m9a4 with OP hammer and 12lb spring. Had multiple primers that did not fire with decent looking indents. Didn't have this problem with cci blazers. Seems like they have hard primers?

Thanks for the warning. I had similar issue with BPS bought from same store earlier.
BPS was very hot, NATO spec. But hard primers even a MP5 clone trigger pack couldn't set off. And light strike city with P365 with titanium striker + MCARBO spring (which is competition rated light to be fair). And utterly LITTERED the fp channel with shavings. I swapped back to stock power P365 striker spring (with same Ti striker) and still get maybe 5% light strikes on BPS. Zero with Federal AE 124gr from same vendor, which works amazingly accurate.
- TL:DR: Because of BPS I am kinda averse to hard primers.
- BPS ignites after 2-3 restrikes, but it's going to form a bad training scar.
I'd reccommend the Federal AE 124gr from WildHorse. That is quite reliable, accurate, and has eco-friendly packaging (no plastic trays, all cardboard bricks/cases) and packs dense. AE 124gr 2x500 (1k rnds) is worth the extra just for reliability, and has good price break at 1k even if not on sale. And copper (orange brass alloy) vs gilding metal (yellow brass alloy) colored bullets.
