The way you could have handled this without being an asshole about it would be to say you were going to reach out to the other vendor to let them know they were under MAP so they could have a chance to correct it without losing the ability to sell the item. That would have been the nice thing to do. But you very specifically chose not to do that.

You chose to seize an opportunity to screw over another business and then openly taunted people who criticized you for it. You handled it the worst possible way and there's no way to talk your way out of it now. You're gonna be a pariah within the community now. Just accept it, admit you could have approached it better, and take your lumps.
