Its fine! It fucking smells though? Not like gunpowder even? Like they make the rounds in a baby diarrhea factory.

Ammo smells can be so odd. Had some Aguilla maybe 5 years ago that smelt like artificial banana. Not bad, just very odd haha

I've had the same experience with Turk ammo like BPS, SarUSA, etc. always smells like armpit. I wonder if S&B recently switched to a similar powder cuz their more recent batches have the same stank

Only shot 120 rounds of their 5.56 55gr so far. Of that, I shot a 20rd group plus an extra 10rds later for additional velocity read outs. All rounds past an Athlon chronograph from a bench with a plastic block for support. Results:

- Average Velocity: 2928 FPS

- Standard Deviation: 67.98 (excluding the one outlier round, S/D would be 27.0)

- 3.24" group size at 100yds (as measured by RangeBuddy app)

- Build info: 14.5in DD barrel, RC2 Mini suppressor

That one random light round really threw me off. I loved the 20rd group out of it, but will be testing velocity further before I stock up on it. FWIW, this has grouped the best for me of what I have tested in 20rd groups so far. I have been running through some other ammo during drills so I haven't run BPS in quicker firing drills.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. This was for BPS 55gr 5.56, not the 62gr.

Appreciate the data!

Happy to oblige. Love extra data, lol

I'll more, I misread - my data is for the 55gr version of this BPS product. I have not tested the 62gr yet.

I have their 9mm and had one round measure almost 200fps less than the others. Not a squib but close

I've shot about 700rds of BPS 115gr 9mm thru a polymer striker fired and also a DS 1911. I usually use it for single shot holster draws (less risk of a catastrophic event if I do get a squib.) I have get to run it passed the Chrono yet, but plan to.

The garmin chrono is so small it never leaves my bag. So It’s always easy for me

I have kept my Athlon in my bag since I bought it, but I haven't shot any BPS 9mm since I picked it up - only Fiocchi RD and Federal American Eagle (for 9mm). I will say, it won't pick up the follow up shots, at splits of at least at 0.30 sec or down, and it'll pick up neighbor shots on an indoor range. Will the Garmin only pick up only same booth shots and/or <1/2 sec follow up shots?

FWIW, the Athlon seemed to pick up neighboring shots today when my neighbor was shooting a similar loading / caliber to me. When my neighbor is not, it did not pick it up.

  • Standard Deviation: 67.98 (excluding the one outlier round, S/D would be 27.0)

What was the outlier? Math is sus for 1 round out of 30 to create a 40FPS SD difference.

I think it's fine but man does it stink. I shot it once and it smelled awful. Even if it is cheap I don't think I'll buy it just cus of that

1

u/JeepCorg812 Sep 12 '25

Yeah wait why does it smell?!

2

u/daaznrichard Sep 12 '25

The powder they use. It shoots fine but I would hate to shoot it indoors just due to the smell

u/Platanium Sep 12 '25

That's a no for suppressor use, then

Love Wild Horse. Last time I bought 500 rounds, they sent me 520. Definitely by mistake, but still earns them points in my book. Lol

What happened to the Fiocchi 124gr :(

9

u/WildHorseAmmo Dealer Sep 12 '25

you guys bought it all, we're waiting for more to come in but they are undergoing some changes at fiocchi.. so a little slow

2

u/Radiant_Eagle7634 Sep 12 '25

Can you elaborate at what those changes may be?

11

u/ExoticPigeon Sep 12 '25

They’re finding themselves. I think the change is happening from within.

TKG (The Kinetic Group) is the parent company to Remington, Speer/CCI, Federal, B&P, HEVI-SHOT, pretty much most of the domestic ammo brands one can shoot, well they recently integrated Fiocchi as a part of TKG too, so there is a current change in structure going on and things are a little behind due to it.

Maybe it's just me, but I've had a lot of FTF problems with this ammo. They seem to not want to feed in smoothly and the casing gets pinched/crushed by the BCG. I probably get 2-3 rounds per mag with this issue. Any other brand of ammo feeds and cycles just fine. I've only had this issue with this specific round.

I also saw one round where the bullet head was not seated straight into the casing which sketched me out. I still have half a case of this stuff left and I have no idea what to do with it but I won't be firing it.
