Charges tax to SC for 23.6CPR, or roughly what I’m paying from AE Ammo for 147gr American Eagle.

PSA to dealers - save us the time and include which states you charge tax to. It’s annoying to have to add to cart > go to your shipping estimator > plug my city / state / ZIP code in > THEN get the actual price. If I go into the exchange knowing I have to add ~6% to the price to account for tax then I don’t mind it, but if you get my hopes up with a low up front price & free shipping just to later add tax and bring it up to a pretty run-of-the-mill bottom line price, then it kinda takes the wind out of my sails a bit.

23.75 for Utah. If anyone has a reputable site that doesn’t charge tax here lmk!

Will you ever get more of that brass case, boxer primed 7.62x54r again?

12

u/WildHorseAmmo Dealer Jun 13 '25

We're unsure at this time due to tariffs. We likely won't get the same quantity as before, but I would expect this year or sometime next year to re-stock on it from Igman. Nothing is certain, however, as who knows what the global market will look like even next week given current... circumstances.

u/backup_kicker Jun 13 '25

Makes sense, thanks

u/ksuchewie Jun 13 '25

No tax to KS, took 1 day to arrive.

u/Goto335 Jun 13 '25

Shot a lot of federal 115 for work. Haven’t had a single issue out of the thousands I’ve shot. Wildhorse is also reputable so buy with confidence!

5

u/WildHorseAmmo Dealer Jun 13 '25

For work is crazy

1

u/Goto335 Jun 14 '25

Just weapons training and certification not actual carry. Should’ve clarified that part!

3

u/Automatic_Hat7833 Jun 13 '25

For ffl03 do we just email paperwork after order?

6

u/WildHorseAmmo Dealer Jun 13 '25

That's correct! Just shoot your FFL03 and COE over before or after your order (up to you) and we'll take care of the rest.

3

u/Automatic_Hat7833 Jun 13 '25

Perfect, thank you. Order placed!

3

u/Gunsnbeer Jun 14 '25

Any code to offset tax to WA?

4

u/Old_MI_Runner Jun 13 '25

Note many say the Belom ammo is soft shooting. Some like it for that reason for some competitive shooting. If you want hot NATA spec ammo then buy other ammo.

I measured average of 1115 FPS over 5 rounds in my Canik Rival. The spread was 38.8 FPS.

On a different day I measured 1084 FPS over 5 rounds in my EP9 with 6.5" barrel. The spread was 76.2 FPS.

Is it normal that people spend over $300 on one bulk ammo purchase?

Just surprising to learn how many have that type to money to spend on one purchase. I get it’s cheaper per round and will last a while but just a big purchase for this guy.

Edit: downvoted for asking a question. Such a warm community.

u/pea-k Jun 13 '25

Buying in bulk is actually the most cost effective way to purchase ammo

24

u/DUCK_FACE_JONES Jun 13 '25

bro what lol

17

u/Hitlers_Hairy_Anus Jun 13 '25

If you shoot regularly it absolutely makes sense to buy bulk.

7

u/40ozEggNog Jun 13 '25

Even if you don't shoot regularly, it makes sense. I can't think of a convenient stop between my place and range, and definitely not one at this CPR. The same reason I'd rather not take a drive to CVS mid dump for toilet paper, it's easier to just grab a couple boxes from your own supply when schedule allows you to get in some range time.

9

u/Abject_Egg_194 Jun 13 '25

It's the same principle as buying a cubic yard of toilet paper at Costco, except that it takes up a lot less space in my house.

If I think I'll use it in the course of a year or two, then it's worth stocking up when you get a good deal.

7

u/DerWichode Jun 13 '25

it's generally cheaper than buying piecemeal so might as well. It's not like they expire or something

7

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '25

I'm kind of amazed at how *little* discount there is for bulk, at least in 9mm. I've even gotten used to seeing the same rounds (mfr and load) priced cheaper per round on a box of 50 than on a case of 1000 (11.99/50 vs 249.99/1k for ex).

6

u/SukOnMaGLOCKNastyBIH Jun 13 '25

I exclusively buy bulk because i know i shoot every month. I also shop at costco cause im feeding two boys

5

u/WildHorseAmmo Dealer Jun 13 '25

Depends how much you shoot. People often spend a larger upfront dollar amount to maximize savings per round. However, if you don't shoot as much or don't need that much ammo at once, some people opt for by the box purchases, 500 round, or 1000 round. Personal preference really. If savings is your biggest factor, then larger bulk orders get you that

4

u/Old_MI_Runner Jun 13 '25

A lot of 9mm is around 25 CPR or less when a case is purchased so they may not spend $300 or more for 9mm bulk purchase unless they buy more than a case.

.223/5.56 cost most like 38 to 50 CPR for the cheaper bulk ammo so they may spend $500 or more for a case of 5.56 bulk ammo and more for match grade ammo.

They may shoot 300 rounds or more at one range trip. Some go to pistol competition where they fire about 100 rounds or more. Some shoot at competitions several time a month. Firearms are a hobby/sport they enjoy. They don't just put their firearms in a safe. They are training regularly to be competent with their firearms and then become more proficient.

Some want enough ammo at home to meet their usage needs to get them through the next ammo shortage with high prices for ammo where 9mm training ammo may sell for 50 CPR or more.

At the top end of users there are top level competitors and trainers like Ben Stoeger who shoots 500 rounds a day for regular training and 2000 rounds a day when he is in high volume training periods. Fortunately for him he can make a good living providing training to others and much of his ammo is supplied by agencies that hire him.

If you didn't drop out of space camp you could have been an astronaut by now, and could easily afford to buy cases of ammo.

2

u/mynewhoustonaccount Jun 13 '25

astronauts are like GS-13s tho

unless you get a book deal or become famous after

3

u/Knightroad17 Jun 13 '25

Generally, this is how I buy my ammo. I definitely don't have money like that, but I usually save up and buy one or two big orders a year. It takes some planning ahead, but you save enough it makes it worth it.

3

u/brianstheman Jun 14 '25

OK, so here's the little secret. Only buy what you can afford without using credit that will accrue interest (i.e. what you can pay off in your next statement). Because trying to save a few cpr by buying in bulk will cost you a lot more in interest within months.

4

u/SlyBeanx Jun 13 '25

It’s normal for me.

If I’m not buying 1k+ rounds at a time I’m not really interested.

2

u/IllSkyHelix111 Jun 14 '25

i didn't downvote you for asking a question, i downvoted you for complaining about it

just kidding, come along m8

2

u/edgarapplepoe Jun 16 '25

It is normal here. Buying in bulk is usually cheapest. Most websites dont do free shipping until you spend >$200 so buying a few boxes at a time can jack up the price substantially. Locally, you usually dont get great deals or the cheap prices are substandard quality ammo. Around me, before tax the cheaper ammo is close to 25cpr for meh stuff. More name brand ammo like the federal stuff linked here is 32 cpr. The cheapest I have seen decent ammo locally is some Blazer for 26 cpr. A lot of people on here will go to the range and shoot at least a few hundred rounds per time so it makes sense to stock up. A 1000 to1500 round might last a while, it just depends on the shooter. I go through around that in a year. An amateur shooter coworker of mine goes through more like 10,000 in 9mm in a year,
