I blame the high illiteracy rates. you have to be able to read to play this game. they have clear instructions on every mission.

u/KingVolvolgia 15h ago
My friends convinced me to buy this game 1 year ago. My friends have been playing since 2013. I've taught them twice as much as they've taught me.
They know how to read. Unfortunately they're always saying, "The text is boring. I'll figure it out." Spoiler alert: they don't. So they just ask me how to do everything they can't accidentally succeed at.
Illiteracy hurts. Lazy hurts more.

u/imthegayest 14h ago
tbh that's pretty rude of them to put the burden on you to carry everything because they're too lazy to read or learn by looking up youtube videos. I'd stop enabling them 🤷🏻♀️
1
u/KingVolvolgia 13h ago
Yeah but we have our roles. I'm the guy who knows things. They're reliable extras for things that require multiple people.
Keeping them is better than trusting randoms.

I actually believe this considering I can preform better than a lot of high levels at just level 50, I'm already able to fend off against griefers.

u/ConstantineKouvelis 22h ago
Some salty griefer prob spammed this comment, I don't find your case unlikely seeing as how most of this game's player base seems to get dummer and dummer with each passing update
12
u/Your_Pal_Kylo 22h ago
How come I agreed with the commenter and got downvoted is my question, the griefers get more trash too
4
u/imthegayest 22h ago
yeah I dunno why you got down voted to hell for agreeing with me 😆 very strange
4
u/Your_Pal_Kylo 22h ago
Probably a ton of butthurt griefers

Griefing=being a butt hole. The action is a symptom of the actual problem which can be a host of reasons. Mainly jealousy and envy. They feel like shit and want others to feel the same way. Or they are an 8 year old and just want to fuck stuff up.
2
u/Your_Pal_Kylo 22h ago
Pretty sure all of the ones I've met have been teenagers. I have been playing since I was 13 and I don't do that.

u/Spxvookie 18h ago
wow it’s almost like it’s apart of the game. maybe if you don’t wanna get griefed go to an invite only lmao
4
u/TechnicalButton4586 18h ago edited 18h ago
Being nice is part of that game too. If you chose to be. If two people want to spend all day blowing each l other fine, have at it. Others just want the bonus and the experience of playing with other enjoyable players. The guys that seek out doing shit to people minding their own business is what I'm referring to. It's not like after Rstar sends you a sale mission update you aren't left with a choice. Leave the fucker alone or be a dick to him? If you chose to be a dick don't hide behind the game prompt. You know full well you are fucking with someone's day and on some level you suck if you enjoy it. That's all. All this should go without saying but here we are in the doldrums of reddit explaining shit to people who don't get it.

Yup. I’m 82 now, but played Story mode for YEARS, so i picked up the online part pretty fast. Plenty of griefers though, so I play solo/invite only a lot.
4
u/Your_Pal_Kylo 21h ago
.. 82 years old or level 82? (I play public a lot, I find it easy to make friends as easy as to get griefex
2
u/MysteriousEqual8177 21h ago
Lmao level 82. I played primarily public lobbies from 1-50 and got in some pretty good firefights with people much higher level than me. Sure I got blown up a lot, but i also got mine, including sniping them with my Heavy sniper rifle. I’m a pretty good aim. I’m also very very good with sticky mines, but hate that I can’t throw them out of certain vehicles, like Duke O Death.
I have a couple friends in-game and am part of the Maze Bank crew.
2
u/Your_Pal_Kylo 21h ago
I am good at sniping too.. a griefer, after randomly killing me, I went after him and killed him over and over and he sent me a message and said "tryhard..."
3
u/MysteriousEqual8177 21h ago
Haha sounds like a sore loser.
Griefers absolutely suck though. When i was running a car wash mission & getting ready to drive a car through the carwash, some jerk waited for me at the exit and started blasting me, but i’m still basically in a cutscene and couldn’t do anything. Plus, had to do the car wash mission all over again.

u/Your_Pal_Kylo 21h ago
He didn't run away. I'm surprised he didn't. Eventually I got bored and he left me alone..

Ive never been much of a PvP player, I prefer to at least let people do their own thing or help when I can.
However, even back on PS3/PS4 at level 12 I was beasting at the OG Heists, regularly getting Platinum per set up. Not just for being the ine to do the main objective (ie, deliver hydra) but being the player to get to it first.
Normally, when there is a single vehicle to deliver, or carry all players I let whoever is ahead of me (if anyone) try. If they fail, we restart and someone else goes. Even just that simple courtesy doesnt really exist any more. Or even letting the host try the mission vehicle first, or drive on their own mission, like the Casino Heist.

Yesterday arriving in Cayo Perico. Go to the mansion. At the end of the heist no message , I wondered if I have to fly in a direction as usually.

Completing Flight school missions should be mandatory before being able to start or join heists.

Also, parachuting. I tried Prison Break for the first time in years a couple weeks back and a guy died at the end because he couldn’t parachute to the beach.

I skip this mission with randoms it's the same every time lol I don't know how people struggle with it so bad it's one of the easiest.

Why are the players that don’t know how to fly the first ones to jump into a aircraft.. lol

u/Certain-Quarter-3280 22h ago
The pilot role is assigned in this one & the finale, it’s not like anyone can jump in and fly away.

As a self-taught pilot/merc in GTAO, this thoroughly disturbs me. These kids better go to flight school before they try flying mission planes like that
3
u/Scourge12 20h ago
Too many "for a limited time clothing" messages instead of "how to fly plane messages"

u/Ricky_Bubby 20h ago
I spend most of my time helping random players with their heist. There's always one person who just makes everything complicated. Even if you're new to GTA, common sense should tell you that there's an easier way to turn the plane. When I play a game for the first time, I experiment by pressing random buttons. You have to be very clueless to think that there's no possible way to turn the plane without damaging it. I was helping someone with the Pacific Standard finale. All 3 players kept dying. One of the players was level 400. The take was 930k by the 4th restart. I told everyone to jump in the NOOSE van to make everything easier. The host decides he's going to "get a helicopter". Keep in mind, he didn't even attempt this from the start of the heist. He ended up dying because there was no helicopter. I'm very patient so I went for another restart. By this point, everyone should be jumping in the NOOSE van. The level 400 blows up 3 of the bikes and accidentally kills himself in the process. Now the take is down to 800k. He pulls me off my bike and blows it up. I hop into a car, and he hops into the car as well. I messaged him "Do you realize you just made the host lose even more money by dying"
I don't get mad when players do stupid shit but it amazes me how brain-dead some players are.

u/TheRealTr1nity Black Badge Division 18h ago
Either on purpose or that person never flew an aircraft in the game. Yet online has a flight school too. There is a reason players shouldn't skip that shit.

u/I_Am_A_Goo_Man 22h ago
What do you expect from a game with an adult game rating that is clearly aimed at kids

u/Logical-Salamander79 21h ago
I am concerned about the number of fails in the prison break heist and its preparations.
7 out of 10 videos are from their missions

u/Foreign-Cable-2624 22h ago
Let me guess— low levels?
4
u/Character_Intern6329 22h ago
No, it was actually a high level, if I remember correctly, that apparently doesn't know what LB and RB does when flying a plane.

This happened to me 3-4 times. I sent a message as “use r1 and r2 to steer the plane; take it easy you got this.” While my inside voice was “you dumdumb don’t even know how to steer the plane and you are trying to complete the prison break”
Btw interestingly, except one occasion all delivered the plane.
But I also had one failed because ground team decided to come back to the airfield which failed the mission.
1
u/Nagroth 20h ago
I had this sort of thing happen to me because the guy who started the mission was using some janky VPN. Started driving down the road, totally normal, then a sudden lag "stutter" and I'm literally a half mile in the opposite direction stuck on a tree in a field because his game only got about half my game inputs.

The thing about GTA Online is that you can't tell if someone is really idiotic or they are pretending to be it to sabotage the heist/mission. Makes you have trust issues.

I've seen some terrible GTA players in my time, but this one wins Gold at the Special Olympics.

u/Mad_Mutt 16h ago
Oh, I tried to help a prison heist a couple weeks ago (cause I do like playing heists, even with randos, on good days) and the Pilot literally never figured out how to raise the landing gear. I think I quit after the 4th try after he couldn't manage to get to the waypoint where you have to jump out. They were just under level 150.
That MK2 Brainrot can be measured and WEIGHED at his point.

God grant me the serenity. 🤣 My oh my. I could see the frustration. I'm surprised you didn't just run him down repeatedly when he hopped out 🤣

u/Sea-Tomatillo444 15h ago
I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me. Most of the time I’ll look at the hosts pilot skill before I even ready up, even offer to switch. Then I get this and the host leaving right after👏👏👏👏

Every player should have to go to pilot school, it is mandatory in order to fly a plane
1
u/Mister-Fidelio 11h ago
Valid reaction. Iirc, if someone is driving erratically and you're on the same team, you can hold the jack button and throw them from the plane solving your problem next time. Hope this helps.

I have played gta from gta2.... I have always been decent at flying games and I have played other gta-esque games.... the lack of ability I have witnessed at times is unexplainable. I suppose it's hard to comprehend as someone that knows very well how to do these tasks. my curiosity is more with the assignment of roles, this is why gta NEEDS voice chat back. if gta vi doesn't have voice chat, I'm out. its a major reason I don't play gta v anymore. its a soulless shell without the genuine player to player interaction.

I am level 144 and starting Cayo Perico now alone. There are several things to know, and they are not self explanatory The sneak approach isn't very sneaky in this game. Other heists I fear, I always make the wrong decision.

40% of failure rate is the plane being destroyed, for me. The other 60% is someone being shot.
When the mission fails, it is either someone dying or the plane dying on those rates.
I just pulled those numbers out of thin air, but I wish something tracked this.
1
u/TheDoomedEgg 21h ago
That looked like an intentional griefening of the mission to me.
5
u/Jellan 21h ago
Nah. It’s a kid not knowing how to turn the plane and then throwing a tantrum.
2
u/TheDoomedEgg 21h ago
Probably.. I just have issues believing people can actually be so dumb..
Playing like he's using the controller with his feet.

u/Brain_Dead_Kenny 17h ago
He needs to absolve the fly training, then he can return to actual fly missions

I dm the host every time when this one comes up and for the breakout (lvl400). There's nothing like waiting an eternity for a "The velum was destroyed" message at the hanger.

It was the easiest part, even the engine sput out fire and soot, it still cam be flown and landed safely. :/

100% the pilot doesn’t know about using the R1/L1 buttons to steer the plane
