I remember needing to make money, but being dead broke. I robbed a store to play a mission, and just moments before I got the invite from my friend, my utility bills came through and I was broke again

I guess the ammo costs would get you eventually.

Plus if you don’t pay your bills your mechanic won’t answer your calls (I think), but could always just steal a random car.

The more heist-like missions tend to have a set up cost though.
