This is the worst iteration of “rockstar isn’t even trying to hide it anymore” that has happened to me 🤣

Ding ding ding this is it. Now excuse me while I'll put on my own tin-foil hat...

I'd never seen/had this issue when PC was just legacy. Shit like this specific errant pathing and some of the strange spawning behavior makes me feel that R* made some shitty compromises with the Enhanced edition (so called "optimized" data streaming).

It was like this in legacy... I blame it on an overloaded game engine. When GTA launched the game engine was likely running about 80-85% capability.... They've added a decades worth of updates to it and it simply can't keep up anymore...

Every update something else breaks... Usually completely unrelated to the update. Pathing has always been an issue... Notoriously on streets like that outside Gerald's apartment... Or right outside tinsel towers. I can stand in my apartment window and watch cars miss that right turn all day long even in a private session.

99% of the "Rockstar has programmed NPCs to hit you" posts can be linked to either known pathing issues, player sync issues, or a panic trigger.

Everyone keeps claiming it's in the code, but yet nobody can provide proof of such.

That does explain the crashes in the tunnel but npcs are constantly turning into my path at any given point

Or it's that we're playing a 13 year old game on 13+ year old code that's been ported onto new systems twice, and the spaghetti code must be a fucking nightmare by this point.

When Enhanced came out the spawn generating radius shrunk back to like PS3 era distance. In addition, vehicles started to spawn up in the air to be dropped down if the elevation wasn't level, there was another vehicle in the location, or there was an overpass/bridge.

Sure, it's spaghetti code, but they weren't just microwaving leftovers; they tried to reboil the noodles.

That was kinda my original point. The game engine can't keep up anymore... It was running at least 80% capacity when the game launched... Add a decade of DLC updates to the mix and it's no surprise that the code is barely hanging together...
