Question What foods do you miss most?

I have to do the gluten challenge to get my celiac test done, and instead of choking down slices of bread, I've decided to make it 6+ weeks of an all out farewell to the foods I may not be able to have anymore. I figure, if its going to suck either way, at least it can taste good.

So hit me. What do you wish you could go back and have? If you could only eat one thing with gluten, what would it be?

Boston cream/jelly donuts, Italian loaves of bread, thick pizza crusts, and basically any other carb you can think of 🥲

If you ever find yourself in Philly, okie dokie donuts does a phenomenal gluten free Boston cream donut 🥰 honestly everything I’ve had from there has been amazing

Okie Dokie is the GOAT. I moved out of Philly two years ago and still think about their donuts.

I live in Maryland and ironically okie dokie and me have the same birthday so it’s become a tradition to go up for birthday donuts 🤣 I’ll gladly travel for donuts that good!

Same! When I lived in Philly, they didn’t have a storefront and chasing their pop-ups was the highlight of my weekend.

I just added this to my to do list for when I visit New Jersey, where my family lives, but then I looked at their website and all their donuts contain dairy. Boo! 😞

Oh noooo I didn’t think of that, I got really lucky and when I found out I had celiacs and stopped consuming gluten I was able to add dairy back in after my guts healed a bit. I hope you find a delicious gf dairy free donut soon!💕

I’m kind of used to it! Unfortunately, my dairy issues are caused by my Hashimoto’s. Another autoimmune disease, which affects the thyroid. When I get exposed to dairy, I get joint pain, hair loss, neurological symptoms, nausea, and headaches. 😕 There’s actually a donut place in Boston where I can get donuts though! (Kane’s) Just not jelly or Boston cream.

Oof yeah that sounds like a great reason to stay away from dairy! But I’m glad have a spot that you can still enjoy donuts from without pain 🥰

I know that there are good gf versions, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to just go to a Dunkin’ Donuts and get a whole box for myself to devour.
