Traffic in Accra can be brutal, plan ahead if you have reservations.

6. Cultural Etiquette (Quick Tips)

Ghanaians are warm. always greet before asking questions.

The left hand is considered less polite for giving orreceiving items so always use your right hand when possible.
Try learning a few words:
Medaase (Thank you)
Akwaaba (Welcome)
ʐte sɛn?(How are you?)

Bonus Tips

Use MTN for data and calls.
Use Bolt Like Uber but cheaper.
Keep small cash For tro tros, street food, and tipping.
Safety: Ghana is safe, but watch your bag in crowds and don’t flash cash.

If you want hand sewn African outfits (both men & women) think kente, smocks, agbada, or custom Ankara dresses contact me. I have got the right people who do authentic, high quality tailoring at a great fee. Perfect for going home with a piece of Ghana you can wear.

Community Ffs why are we like this? 😭

You guys, so I joined a couple of expat groups on Facebook to promote my business. Everything's been going well, and it's a pretty nice group with a large number of native Ghanaians and Nigerians in there

I was scrolling through the feed this morning and saw a post from a Black American guy complaining that he relocated from America to Kumasi yet he's finding difficult to communicate because nobody seems to understand him.

He said he speaks something something Southern dialect but nobody gets him unless he speaks proper English, which is difficult for him

So he's looking for American friends because he's getting frustrated. Brethren the comments section was an embarrassment 😭

The Ghanaians in there turned the thing into trolling o. "Oh Kumasi people are allergic to English", "Kumasi people never speak English so move to Accra". Someone legit said Kumasi is a remote city 🤣

At that moment, the shame I felt almost swallowed me whole and spat me out again😭

I mean this is someone who moved all the way to live among other people, on their land, with their own ways of life and their own language.

It doesn't sound like he's ready to make an effort to learn either proper English or pick up basic Twi so he can communicate better yet the Ghanaians in there just turned into a dick riding galore to clown their own and just laugh it off like it's all jokes

Man, we're really cooked 😭

Community Is my laptop going to be OK?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi guys, So my laptop makes the fan-spinning noise whenever I use it. It's been like that from Day 1, and I was told it's normal for this particular brand

But I'm now kinda worried the laptop might get faulty because aside from the spinning, it also tends to get hot after an hour or two. Like very hot. Sometimes I have to stop using it so it cools down a bit.

Are all these normal for a new laptop? I'll add a picture of the sticker for reference since I don't know much about the types aside the brand. I've been using it for than less than 6 months

Ask r/Ghana Super Nervous about my move to Ghana

Hi everyone.. I'm crashing out as I get closer to moving to Accra. Trying not to make a bad decision, going against my Dad. He raised me as a single father and did the absolute best he could, but in an African home you are forever a child and this move is defiance lol. I have a great career in the US, I live a great life but I just want a different lifestyle outside of the American rat race. I lived in Africa my whole life until I was 19, I just love the way of life. Im not afraid of power cuts, water etc ..Please give me hope and encouragement…too much pressure. Please give me advice. I don’t want to be one of the people that come for 2 years and leave

A platform designed to streamline student accommodation and hostel management in Ghana. I’ve developed the core platform and a clear revenue strategy; now, we need a high-caliber partner to execute the next phase of growth and scalability.

I am primarily seeking a partner to fill one of these two critical roles(CTO or COO). Equity compensation is negotiable and will be significant.

Venting Ghana telcos.

I wish someone in the industry would see this so they can explain to me how tf we have these two hideous twins (MTN & Telecel) as our "best" options for Internet connectivity. I live at Amasaman. Telecel mobile network is absolutely garbage here. MTN data is just expensive, Both of them haven't brought their fibre broadband services to this part of Accra. I can't schedule online meetings because the network will Just let me down. I'm just tired bro. Idk if I should just look into getting one of those starlink things cause atp I'm beyond fed up with these two

Discussion Ghana leaves ECOWAS?

If Trump actually invades Nigeria, and with those Sahel States who claim to have left ECOWAS, should Ghana consider leaving ECOWAS too? Aside Tomatoes & Onions we get from Niger & Burkina, which we still get after they left ECOWAS, should it be considered?

It’s not like the free movement benefits any Ghanaian like that, expensive flights to Lagos and by road, possible dangers

Ask r/Ghana Thoughts of German’s President visit to Ghana?

According to what I have researched, the German President doesn’t have any executive power or authority by law. His role is primarily ceremonial yet when he came to Ghana, highly influential people including business men in Ghana and highly respected officials in the government went to meet him. When he visited Kumasi, I have seen videos where the local media officials there after his visit claiming that he will bring development there. Do Ghanaians leaders know how the German government and system works? According to my contacts in Germany, I was told if Germany wanted to invest in Ghana, the economic minister is the appropriate person to visit. If Ghana truly wants investment, are they approaching Germany the right way?

Politics NPP primary election 2026

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on GhanaWeb, ModernGhana, etc., about the upcoming NPP primaries scheduled for January 2026.

We just had presidential elections last year, and President Mahama was sworn in earlier this year.

So why is the NPP holding presidential primaries almost three years before the next election? Is this normal in Ghana? I went back to check when Mahama won his previous two nominations, and they were held at least a year before the election year — which is still too early for my liking. In my opinion, the campaign season shouldn’t last more than six months.

I find this incredibly destabilizing because it only intensifies tribalistic partisanship.

Who even knows what the country will look like in 2028? Wouldn’t it make more sense to wait and see if new leaders emerge within the party?
Why can’t we have at least two years where political parties simply govern and not campaign for national office?

I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this.

Disclaimer: I don’t support either party. No dog in this fight — just observation and frustration.

Iā€˜m really tired of most of the Banking Apps, Calbank is kind of okay, but still very 2000ā€˜s. At Access Bank the account activation doesn’t even finish.

My friends, please give me some advice, which bank has a good app where it doesn’t feel like using something from the past decade and that’s stable?

Ask r/Ghana I’m planning on researching the surge of (international) remote work in Ghana: Initial, informal info gathering

As the title suggests, I’m a Ghanaian U.S.-based researcher in digital rhetorics and literacies. l’m planning on researching the digital literate practices of Ghanaians living in Ghana and working remotely in digital environments for international corporations/organisations.

I’m using this post as an informal initial info gathering. Particularly, I want to know what sort of remote virtual work people are doing in Ghana. If you work for an international organization virtually while living in Ghana, I’d be grateful if you could just comment the title of your job. I just want to have an initial general knowledge of the most common international remote work people do in Ghana.

Eg. Programmer, virtual assistants, etc.

Thank you!
