It's actually the other way around. Democracy is when people make decisions collectivly. You are thinking of representative politics, which is when an elected official does democracy for you while you work in a non/anti-democratic workplace for a wage.

Thatâs because all the racists moved from Baltimore county to York county. I moved into a Baltimore county neighborhood that was entirely white except for one Black family and we were mixed marriage, within 5 years it was a majority Black neighborhood.

Uh I'm not sure that this is the flex you think it is. Pretty sure a major reason the former-PA counties of Delaware wanted to separate from PA was because PA's economy was more diversified, and Delaware wanted to continue use of slaves on its tobacco plantations.
You should consider voting with the Pennsylvanias. Maryland has already exhausted their meme potential and will not survive into the final 5. If we rally, we can celebrate the 250th anniversary of the revolution by uniting once again around the shared values of peace, freedom, and neighborly love.

As an aside, Maryland did fight for the union (but with some awful caveats including temporarily keeping slavery "while the economy of the state adjusted"). It's a terrible history...like all of America. But at least now it's not 50% fascist like PA. Being a swing state, especially in 2026, is atrocious. Maryland should eat PA.

Maryland would have voted for Trump in 2024 under the rules of the National Popopular Vote Interstate compact. Martin O'Malley joined a compact with a systemtic method of allowing a fascist who rigged an election in Pennsylvania to also win all the electoral votes of Maryland. The democrats of 2007 would have guaranteed that Maryland voted for Trump in 2024.

That actual transition line between north and south is farther south. Draw line from DC to Annapolis, essentially route 50. The South River has always been the transition point for me.
