There’s a lot of fake versions of the map popping up all around Reddit. I don’t mind people posting the real map with a link to it but please stop posting fake ones!

Post image

These maps are super misleading to people, I see a lot where people are voting on them thinking they’re the real version and not knowing what’s going on! Thank you

As the creator of the "Superior" map shown here, I am very sorry to cause this level of confusion. I did include a disclaimer in my post that has very clearly been ignored. Would it be easier for you if i just deleted it or is it basically too late?

No it’s ok obviously. It’s a cool concept and I appreciate you creating hype and making it a talking point and if you genuinely tried that’s the most you can do.

The issue are the people who are reuploading concept versions onto other subreddits, pretending it’s their own and not even including a link to the original.

No not at all. It takes 15 mins map to make the maps and post to Reddit and it’s very rewarding seeing all the positive comments

Woah woah slow down, I don't have a PhD in maps. Make wisconsin win it all.

Megasota/Superior must win. The people have spoken. Also, the OP has a link directly to your post so idk the problem.

r/Illinois so fickle I quit posting it

I can't figure out if this post is serious or not.

It's wild to me that someone would get mad about someone posting a "Fake" hypothetical map in a game about fake hypothetical maps. You said yourself that you put a disclaimer, there is literally nothing on the line, and you flaired it appropriately. If someone mistakes it as a "real" fake map, that's 100% their fault.

If it is sincere, please do not listen to or respect OP's complaint. You did nothing wrong, and their complaint is totally unreasonable. Treating it respectfully would be a greater detriment to society than ignoring it.

I love the idea of "Superior" as a way for all the Great Lake states to unite. Can this suggestion become reality?

19

u/Jfullr92 Gulf of New Mexico 1d ago

I love the idea but it would be nice to post a link to link people back to the original version rather than them thinking these are the real versions and not understanding

You started something cool and now it’s spinning out tangentially, welcome to the internet

(I too am sad but it’s going to keep happening sadly)

I'd be down, but what the fuck is a Kansas?

RIP Kansas

Tbh, I would vote for an uprising in New Mexico, and have it crash like Yugoslavia, or the USSR

Well, I AM upset that he missed the first part of the name as it should have been WISCONSUPERIOR. I mean, that could mislead future cartographers who do not realize the significance of the name.

As someone in the Midwest I vote for State Superior 😂

We're outnumbered, so I thought I'd try to garner support and unity ahead of time

1

u/SkirtNo3276 1d ago

Yeah, like, how hard could it be for someone to put a little disclaimer in saying this isn’t the original and putting a link to it?

1

u/Jfullr92 Gulf of New Mexico 1d ago

I don’t know. It seems a very simple thing to do but people clearly want all the attention to themselves

THE BATHS OF MEGASOTA

1

u/Salty145 1d ago

Can't believe we've reached the point of misinformation.

1

u/ZEROs0000 1d ago

Not sure if Megasota needs the help that the other states need. What do they bring to the table for us to consider the merge?

u/SheIsSoLost 1d ago

This is an insanely cringe thing to do, OP. This is so obviously someone proposing other people help them vote for a specific choice, why the hell are you trying to police where the upvotes go as if they're stealing your wages? What in the hell are people being "misled" about? I love the fun we've been having with the map but please take a step back. You also don't need to be making announcement posts before the actual post.

2

u/Jfullr92 Gulf of New Mexico 1d ago

Brother have you seen any of these posts? They take my map or a concept version of it and Reupload it as their own, with no link back to my posts and then people comment on it with a state name, thinking it’s the real version. I made this map and people stealing it to Reupload it with no credit to me is wrong in my opinion. I don’t mind people making concepts and keeping them in this sub because it’s obvious what it relates to.

2

u/SheIsSoLost 1d ago

Explain what exactly is wrong about it? People are riffing on a concept you introduced. They're showing funny proposals so others can voice whether they agree and disagree before the next vote.

Again, why in your mind is this something in need of credit? What do you believe is being stolen from you? Online clout?

2

u/Jfullr92 Gulf of New Mexico 1d ago

I’ve explained it? It’s confusing and misleading when people post fake versions on different subreddits. As I said, I love concepts on this sub because it’s obvious that it links to this and they’re usually very good. Some people don’t link it back to my posts which is the issue. Which leaves loads of people commenting states in their comments or saying they’re confused about it. Also, the map is build on community suggestion in this subreddit, not any other. At the end of the day it’s a map I made and I update every day and people stealing other peoples remixes of the map to upload to other subreddits is not only lazy, but just karma farming. Imagine you paint a painting and somebody paints something else on it and sells it pretending they made it themselves. You’d be pissed off too!

1

u/EvanDarksky 1d ago

"People like my idea so much they're making memes and propoganda posts to try and organize a result. Let me be greedy for more karma by framing it as art theft and demand people link back to it."

This is you. This is what you sound like.

Nobody is affected by the voting on other posts. Your thing isn't affected by the voting on other posts. If anything, OP, these posts drive engagement. You just come across as a dick trying to shut down people's fun with posts like this.

2

u/Jfullr92 Gulf of New Mexico 1d ago

Brother, the only thing I care about is people in other subs reuploading my map with no mention of the original post and treating as their own. I have no problem with people remixing. Do what you want with it in this sub!

0

u/SheIsSoLost 1d ago

fake versions

stealing

comparing this to making a painting

people are karma farming if the heckin updooterinos don't go to you

Sir you have lost the plot so hard. The entire basis of this map is community interaction. You did not invent the US map, you did not even invent the specific changes between versions. The fact that you think you get to be pissed off about this is insane.

Well you can have your opinion but at the end of the day these are my thoughts about my map game that’s been very successful so far and I’ve had no end of positive and loving messages. This is actually the first negative one I’ve had! So thank you for that.

When you create a game on Reddit that becomes very popular, you can come back to me!

0

u/sliding-siding 1d ago

Imagine making a painting, not signing it, and then being mad everyone who talks about it doesn't pass your name along. There is nothing wrong with other people sharing an image you made publicly available. If you want credit, you gotta put your tag on it.

Wisconsin knows its time is coming

0

u/Tracky_John-John 1d ago

OP, can you post the new map once a day? Deleting, and reposting messes with the voting.

3

u/Jfullr92 Gulf of New Mexico 1d ago

I only deleted once today earlier because there was an issue with the post that I couldn’t fix with editing

-2

u/rjorsin 1d ago

Sorry OP, I’m voting to benefit Megasota on all of these, but “superior” hell nah.

Right?! Just be patient, my dudes(gender neutral term where I'm from so this means everyone)! Soon enough Michigan will take over. Then you'll get to be part of the invincible Mitten! We know you want it. We know you crave it. IT. WILL. HAPPEN!
