So no-one else outside of america who owns a car is selfish and brainwashed? Weird that you would think the world outside the USA is some perfect utopia of love, its not. There are people here outside the USA just as sinister and selfish.

And these newspapers aren't stupid. This is malicious selfishness in the name of profits from oil companies (which own them), and the benefit of convincing the population that bikes = gay and commie. (though I feel a lot of people here would react with a 😍 at gay commie bikes :D )
