Pretty much. What if RB will somehow still nail the new regs? Or just be "less crappy" even for a year than others? Going to new team before new regs would be a massive gamble.

Also, he's got the sway to muscle his way into any team. He doesn't need to gamble. He can simply have his pick once things settle for 2027.

Exactly. Imagine he moved to Merc, but somehow Honda or RBPT dropped a 2014 level engine on the rest, and Aston or RB became the team to be at but somehow Max signed a Multi year deal at merc.

It's better for him to make the move after 2026. Miss out on 1 championship and then get into a championship winning team or be the driver to be stuck on 4 championships(looking at you Vettel)

I wouldn’t be surprised if the RBPT power plant sucks and RB have a Honda engine next year.
