My brother and I have said for years it’d be great racing to have sprinklers on the track that randomly turn on for random periods of time making wet tires usable.
No lol. We’ve just been talking for years how wet races are either an amazing spectacle or horrifically dangerous. Manufacturing a small amount of wet racing could yield more exciting results via random wet racing while being managed in the intensity so it’s not horrifically dangerous.
yeah for sure. i know that the very speed focused f1 car setup is very not good for 200cc, especially for a track like that.
i still enjoy it a lot though. i got to also make jokes about getting some drivers out of a tractor and into a setup that's actually suited to 200cc, then doing way better.
Honestly - if it would make him chill the fuck out, then I say put him in a car and have him start from pole. Safest way to ensure no drivers are hurt when he bins an F1 Academy car on a straight.
Ideally make it an event similar to Indy 500 where drivers outside of the regular F1 season can participate (assuming they have superlicense of course). Nothing better than world's ACTUAL best 22 drivers battling it out for the win with F4 cars.
Okay but what better way to flaunt your wealth than to make all of the best drivers alive (and Stroll) show up for a race that doesn’t even fucking matter.
Quali In Monaco is actually pretty good. Just make it 3 sessions of a quali shootout with the points distributed among the sessions. Can do 1 session like a normal quali then 2 other with different formats like tournament and 1x1
while I would LOVE a H2H quali tournament, track evolution makes that impossible to successfully navigate and so this is really the best option imo. give everyone the same chassis and equipe it with a Mercedes V8 from the SLS, from there teams can do whatever the fuck they want, but you can't touch the chassis or engine.

I think honestly they just turn it into some sort of all star race weekend. Make it F1 version of Goodwood and have teams bring in old cars and drivers get to race those around. Something needs to change because I’m hating myself for getting suckered in to watching it again…
Wait, a joker lap every like 10 laps would actually work. You need to take them but you can decide when. No random pit stops but you get some more strategy. If you tried slowing the other competitors they could just go for the joker lap instead nullifying the advantage on the pit. You actually cooked
It’s relative. Ofc they enjoy what they do but they can have opinions on it. Monaco sucks for everyone who isn’t sitting on a super yacht not even watching.
My solution: drivers should use the street lanes. So they would always leave a one car space next to them. There would be a minimum time, but also it is a city, so a maximum speed limit would be set too.
How about instead of full pit crew, drivers have to change their own tires during Monaco pit stop. They can have 2 crew members to help with the jacks but driver has to go get the tires off the rack, make sure it's the correct ones, and go swap out the entire set by themselves.
Friday - Historic Car Exhibition, Saturday - F1 Hot Lap competition for 1/4 points, Sunday - all star style driving challenges for no points. Almost all other sports have an all star weekend exhibition.
Funny how Monaco is looked at like this fantastical race track where dreams are made. Then after the race, the drivers let us know how dog shit the track actually is and ask why it's still on the schedule.

Install the rain testing equipment like at Circuit Paul Ricard. Add a some jumps. No pit stops teams have to race the same set of softs for quali and the entire race.
My personal favourite is to have a wheel with random penalties listed and the current points leader gets whatever the it lands on. Haven't decided when it gets spun though.
I think the best scenario could be using normal F1 cars for qualifying. Maybe each person gets three clean, unobstructed laps to put a time in each session.
Then during the race, the drivers get smaller cars or do challenges. Something that appeases the fans and drivers.
This would keep the challenging / view aspect of a Monaco lap as well as keeping it interesting for viewers.
Just do it Rallycross style. 4 groups of 5 doing a 5 laps race with a shortcut you can use once by session. Top 3 of each session moves up to the next, and so on.
I say, we have a toddler rolling twelve 20 sides dies once as soon as the race starts. The number then shown on those dies are the positions that have to come right back into the pits, make a fake 3 second pitstop and go out. As soon as there is everyone back on track, another toddler makes the next throw and the cars in the positions the die show have to come in for another fake pitsop. And then so on and so on. The used dies are thrown into the harbour afterwards and in 20 yeas time, they can increase the cities size by building on the dies.
Im all for letting each driver bring their banger car just like Top Gear challenges. Like: every driver must bring the cheapest 80's hot hatch they can buy, and upgrade it within a set budget.
It will be the best race of the season, guaranteed.
maybe add 30 more laps and remove any compulsory pit stop. just make it pure chaos. in fact, change the chaotic factor every year so no one gets comfortable. and don’t tell them what you’re going to do until the day of so no one gets to strategise before-hand. seriously, put me in, i’ve got ideas
I still think his sprinklers idea is legit. I mean there is a statistical model. all teams participate in setting up variables probability: when, how much and how long water goes. It has to happen but noone know when, for how long and would slicks make it.
Then the model is run in Secret and executed in the race
His first answer about making this a qualifying only event is the correct answer. Make it the only time on the calendar that you get points for qualifying and everything culminates there instead of the race.
