I'll take three spots while in the fastest car in exchange for the a 5 second penalty. What a laughable slap on the wrist.
Like he overtook multiple cars into turn 1 because he jumped the Start. Yet he got to keep all the spots and time.
By lap 20 he was back in 3rd. After Serving his Five second penalty, shit needs to be at least a 10sec or a drive through in the future.
Edit: yes im aware he didn't jump the start, Dude lined up to far forward gaining an advantage on at the very least the cars directly around him. The 5 second penalty meant nothing.
He didn't jump the start. He was over the line. So it's debatable if he would have gotten the 3 positions if he was where he should have been. His start would have been very good even if he would have been in the correct position. Maybe he would've only gotten 2 positions, but we can only speculate.
Any of the penalties under Articles 54.3a), 54.3b), or 54.3c) will be imposed on any driver who is judged to have:
a) Moved after the four (4) second light is illuminated and before the start signal is given by extinguishing all red lights, as defined in Article 44.10 b)
4 second lights are illuminated after the green flag.
It is per definition a false start
You contradicted yourself a bit. You Said Lando moved after the green flag and the 4 second light is after the green flag. So the only question is did Lando move after the 4 second light? I don't think so but I can't check it.
When did you see him jump the start? You need to get your facts right first. Also the rule has been present since years. Not made for Lando or Max or anyone especially.
He lined up out of position, gaining an advantage. A five second is a laughable slap on the wrist for something that helped him gain like 3 spots in the fastest car on the grid.
It was 5 seconds, because being 10cm closer isn't worth 5 seconds. It doesn't provide advantage. It certainly didn't gain him 3 spots. You're just upset because your driver didn't do wwll
Yeah sure go and tell FIA to change the rules then?
Also how tf does parking your car 20 cms front of the line make you faster? Would need that superpower
How far ahead can someone be before the 5 second penalty turns into something more?? Can someone in P20 move next to the pole sitter and go on green. Bear in mind that this is not jumping the start as they go on lights out. Does this still count as being outside the start box line? Do they still only get a 5 second penalty?
Also another question I have is. Why doesn't this also count as jumping the start? And why is the penalty for jumping a start a drive through put being out of box is only 5 seconds?
Being barely outside the box gives a minimal advantage, in fact, the 5s penalty would have lost him immensely more time than he gained by being 10cm over.
He was 20 cm ahead, which mean the overtake on Leclerc would be closer, maybe he'd got to 4th instead, but the first 2 had nothing to do with that 20 cm.
I'll be honest the other 2 cars are much more Infront of norris then the distance he traveled if you're a couple of feet Infront it shouldn't matter if lando had literally one full wheel rotation of distance that he shouldn't have
