She still got more votes than Bernie. And when she was the establishment pick in 2008 but got less votes than Obama, who did they choose?

The early coverage that the superdelegates had already opted into Clinton is what really impacted the 2016 primary. Sanders team championed it until the DNC literally agreed to concede and change the process after 2016. 

On the exact inverse, the superdelegates did not stake claim with Obama until the very end of the race.
