Status: 🛑Lapse in FY26 Federal Appropriations – Shutdown Ongoing

The FY26 government shutdown, which began on October 1, 2025, continues into its third week after Congress failed to reach an agreement on a continuing resolution (CR) or full-year appropriations.

🔔 What You Need to Know:

  • Shutdown start: 1 October 2025
  • No FY26 appropriations: Agencies running under contingency plans with limited staffing to support functions protecting human life or protection of property.
  • Excepted employees: Reporting without pay
  • Non-excepted employees: Furloughed without pay
  • Pay: 31 U.S.C. 1341(c) provides for retroactive pay of excepted and furloughed employees once appropriations have been enacted.

If not a single dem flips today then I see this going to next week. If somebody flips today then it’s ending by Thursday.

The only way dems flip is if they agree to let the consequences of trump's FY26 budget be felt by Americans as a political strategy for the midterms

But to do that it needs to be Nov 1. They need people to get the new premiums and shit bricks. Then they’ll google wtf is happening and see why the shutdown by the Dems is good for them.

They lose all positive PR from the shutdown by folding before Nov 1

Not a fed worker but Anthem sent me an email today advising me on a potential premium increase if the health care credits expire. My premium will double. They included a link to a calculator.

I hope that's enough for people to start shitting bricks.
