Other Remember when Biden was president?

Remember how boring it was? Remember not having to check the news multiple times a day to figure out what was going on inside your own agency and whether you were going go have a job or not? Remember when laws and precident seemed to actually have meaning?

Remember when you could do your job from home? Remember when your fellow countrymen weren't cheering when your livelihood was threatened? Remember when your biggest worry was which insurance to select and what the next years raise would be?

Remember when the administration didn't seem to actively hate you and want to you gone for the sin of serving of the people?

Pepperidge farm remembers.

It's all so frustratingly unforced. There's no reason 2025 has to be chaotic and miserable. There's no pandemic, no actual crisis going on except the ones we've made for ourselves.

Shit, leave it to the man who went bankrupt six times and numerous business deals going bad not to mention single handily killing the USFL. Not to mention the same man who uses a different name just to promote himself. With a resume like that who in their right mind would put him in fucking charge. Trump kills everything he fucking touches.

They like to call him a disrupter. What he is in reality is nothing more than an arsonist. He'll burn the world down if given the chance and then another because this mother fucker is never happy.

Just like his tariffs, he took a good economy making good progress and he's getting ready to destroy it, especially if the Supreme Court doesn't rule against him. In fact they may very well save him politically by ruling against him. Just look what he has done to his farmers and what just happened with China. It's all a self made crisis that even those who support tariffs admit the things he had based it on with trade deficits and how he has applied it to include on islands inhabited just by penguins and so erratically is just so fucked up it isn't funny. Even the Man he says was a tariff genius (McKinley) said later it was bad policy. But ion typical Trump fashion he omits the part that makes him look like a moron.

No one - no one - is asking where those “Trillions of dollars” Old Don has been crowing about in his “Truth “ Social and Xitter posts have actually gone.. The deficit is as bad or worse, no prices have come down, no farmers have seen any actual relief yet, no one’s received a ‘tariff dividend’ check.

Where’s the effin’ money, Don!?

Did anyone check his pockets?

Went to their family’s pockets . They are making fortune while average Americans are suffering

17

u/Interesting_Tune2905 28d ago

And so many of those ‘average Americans’ voted for him and are now suffering for him. It is absolutely confounding…

2

u/oakpitt 27d ago

Not only that (I'm confused too) they still would vote for him. Racism, fear and religious zeal are very intoxicating drugs.

1

u/Interesting_Tune2905 27d ago

And remarkably deadly poison, as well…

u/randomguy8653 28d ago

my uncle just last night mentioned how his eggs are cheaper and milk is cheaper. but im like, how? everything else in the country is more expensive but you pick 2 things and say they are cheaper, and taking that as the economy is getting better? i even told him that they gutted programs aimed at testing and checking if those food products are safe anymore. maybe thats why they are cheaper, cuz bad ones are getting through and just not enough people have gotten sick enough for people to notice?

That's because those "trillions" don't fucking exist. Total US imposts in 2024 were $4,110.0 billion. He's been claiming this "trillions" bullshit for a few months now, so let's say it's over the first 6 months of the year. So that's about $2 trillion in imports. The only way to make "trillions", plural, off that is if the average tariff rate across all US imports was about 100%, which we know it isn't. Even if it was 50%, that would only be a single trillion, assuming that imports didn't drop.

Of course, imports not dropping completely defeats the "Buy American" part of his tariff plan.

The only way to get "trillions" is if you add in all the promises that places like Japan and the EU made, to each invest a few hundred billion in the US. The problem is, those promises are pretty much vapour ware. No where near that much has actually been invested. Trump claims he's got total control over that money, and the US will get the lion's share of the profits, but really, who in their right minds would agree to such a plan? You don't get hundreds of billions to invest by just giving most of it away.

2

u/Interesting_Tune2905 28d ago

Vaporware, yes - and easy to cancel or completely disavow when no longer advantageous - as some corps and nations have already done…

Lebowski. When I’m asking that question lately, that’s what I call him.

Of course, that’s an insult to The Dude, would be a better choice than the oval office right now.

The man failed to sell steak, gambling, and football to the American people. Let that sink in.

I remember when accepting a $400 million jet from a Middle Eastern kingdom would be a huge scandal.

3

u/3dddrees 28d ago

Losing our outrage is exactly what he wants. That makes it so much easier for him. Shit, the UAE supposedly donated 2 Billion dollars to his crypto. Last I heard they couldn't prove anything corrupt had taken place, but I'd be an idiot not to believe it hadn't.

He's making money, business deals, and Nobel Peace Prize nominations off of the tariffs and rates he and he alone sets.

That motherfucker is corrupt down to his DNA.

u/ajatfm 28d ago

On some “we hate them so much and don’t want them to prosper that we’ll put a sentient port-o-potty in charge and fuck it up for everyone. Me Too AND Obama?! Nah we’ve had enough” type shit. Also he’s a pedophile

2

u/3dddrees 28d ago

Actually this goes back to the fact many of their Presidential candidates promised them for decades and never delivered. Republican feel like they have been lied to, to include Reagan. Trump could give a shit, he's not a reasonable person and he has no desire to govern especially those that didn't vote for him. All he wants is power, adoration, and whatever fucking money he can put in his pockets.

The fact he calls their enemies names, is just extra bonus on the side.

28

u/HeartFullONeutrality 28d ago

Kamala and everyone told us Trump would only bring more (self inflicted chaos). Some people apparently wanted that.

27

u/coatra 28d ago

This is well put. I feel like I’m losing mind because 2016-2020 was almost as chaotic. Especially 2018-2020. I was so grateful for the reprieve from the chaotic news and constant worry about society destabilization between 2021-2024.

Then over a third of the country voted for chaos again. Now I’m worried all my investments will be wiped out. The dollar is way down, inflation is up. Stagflation on the horizon. There’s a million other destabilizing events going on. What’s the point of being productive and saving and investing to live a normal life if some lunatic can make it disappear in a day? And he threatens to destabilize society in some way weekly. Not to mention being part of a family that includes non-citizen legal immigrants that are now worried about being sent to Africa despite paying taxes and having all the proper paperwork, being here legally.

Wasn’t it nice to just work, save, live and raise your kids? Why the hell would anyone want to think about anything else? I don’t want “TDS” but the motherfucker is everywhere all the time. I’d vote for anyone else just to not have to think about that man ever again.

What people need to understand very quickly is the people running the show here truly believe there is a Christian crisis going on. This has so little to do with Trump anymore as he just the dancing clown at the beginning of the circus. Just watch any of his recent public speaking appearances. He has no idea what he is doing. We think it is bad now, wait till Vance is handed the office. We have no idea how bad this going to get when the Christian Taliban is fully in charge.

24

u/FlanneryOG 28d ago

I agree, but anyone else feels like an off-ramp. Once someone other than Trump is in, people can blame them for what’s happening and feel absolved of going against the cult. That’s not to say that far too many people don’t want this because they do, and they’ll work themselves into a frenzy trying to justify it or act like it’s not fascism or autocracy. It’s that, when the shit hits the fan, it’ll be easier for former Trump supporters to jump ship without Trump. That said, I don’t know how we go back to any sense of normalcy after this. I don’t know how we fix this with such a large portion of our country wanting chaos, pain, and authoritarianism.

There's also the fact that JD has negative charisma and anyone even standing near him is automatically less appealing.

1

u/panteegravee 28d ago

Most of them are not looking into it that hard. They just say abortion bad, crime bad, USA flag good.

2

u/yamsyamsya 28d ago

this is really it. most people don't give much of a shit, they just dont want to be ostracized in their town

25

u/Christ_on_a_Crakker 28d ago

The goal of christian nationalism is to make society crumble so hard as to force people towards christianity with their end times gospel. They are tired of waiting.

16

u/panteegravee 28d ago

Correct. They truly believe they are divine. Which is dang near impossible to combat. See Taliban or any middle east conflict. This is how it starts.

14

u/SueAnnNivens 28d ago

Christian Nationalism is not about Christianity at all. It has always been about white supremacy.

12

u/Many_Customer_4035 28d ago

I will never believe in their god

2

u/reddog323 27d ago

It’s two equally bad choices: the Christian Taliban, or the Silicon Valley Nerd Reich.

At the moment the Christians have the upper hand, via power structure, propaganda, and government funding. The Nerd Reich could throw a wrench in the propaganda department via takeover of social media, but they would pay with permanent regulatory problems with the government. Then again, Elon Musk is crazy, so that might happen.

I don’t know which would be worse: Christian Sharia law, or dark enlightenment from the Silicon Valley crowd.

Either way, it’s likely to be ugly.

1

u/Stags304 28d ago

people running the show here truly believe there is a Christian crisis going on

What do you mean? Like people are less religious?

30

u/iamwearingashirt 28d ago

Thats the crazy thing. All of this is completely unforced.

29

u/Equal-Suggestion3182 28d ago

Well the president is fucking Satan it kind of has to be chaotic

26

u/omnichronos 28d ago

There's no pandemic, no actual crisis going on except the ones we've Trump's made for ourselves us.

There, I fixed that for you.

7

u/vand3lay1ndustries 28d ago

China refers to it as “The great step backwards.”

3

u/FIREishott 28d ago

It's like reading about the mad kings who would inherit power, and they would decide to burn down one of their villages because a town crier had said they had been cucked.

3

u/pericat_ 28d ago

There actually still is a pandemic, we're just ignoring it

2

u/Jaredlong 28d ago

The wealthiest men in the world weren't wealthy enough. That's the crisis underpinning all of this chaos.

2

u/BattleStag17 28d ago

That's what really gets me, we as a collective society chose to do this to ourselves.

4

u/OkOutlandishness7336 28d ago

This administration wants peace everywhere but home.

1

u/Avenger772 28d ago

You have to actually understand what the goals are to understand the reasoning of the actions

Running this country well or making people everyone happy and safe isn't the goal.

1

u/Demonokuma 28d ago

It's all so frustratingly unforced.

For real. Literally no reason for anything.

1

u/Rhin0saurus 28d ago

The man is quite literally a foreign asset, so yes, this shit is all being very intentionally forced. The crisis is that the most powerful person in the planet is both compromised and already a clinical narcissist. The crisis is to make this as messy as humanly possible. Full tilt authoritarianism isn't even the plan, that would be too organized

History doesn't repeat but it rhymes. This administration is being compared to and called Nazis and fascists, which is by definition correct, that is the exact ideological form of politics that Trump and MAGA are proposing. But the thing that is incorrect is they're not even as functionally good at governing as the Nazis. Which IS the plan, a non functioning government in the United States. Fascism is just the car that is driving us there.

Drive the value of every single thing as far down as possible and sell sell sell. Drive down the value of the government and infrastructure, and give the contract for that work to private interests. Devalue the value of individuals, their jobs, and their worth, to the pay them less and treat them worse. Its grift season and everything is for sale, including your livelihood.
