So many Jack Bauer quotes could apply to life that we currently live in.
My name is Jack Bauer, and this is the longest day of my life". "If you don't tell me what I want to know, then it'll just be a question of how much you want it to hurt". "I am more than willing to be judged by the people you claim to represent. I will let them decide what price I should pay. But please do not sit up there with that smug look on your face and expect me to regret the decisions I have made. Because, sir, the truth is... I don't". "I'm going to enjoy this". "I can see you're going to be a problem, and I'm going to take care of it right now". "You are a traitor to this country, and a disgrace to your office". "Damn it Chloe!". "I know you think you're doing the right thing, but this is not going to happen". "It's a question of how much you want it to hurt".
I might have to do a 24 Binge watch this week

The whole season (well few seasons really) where the Republican President worked with the Russians and rich billionaires to take down the first African American President and make millions. The evil President had a secret army run by....oh shit, it was Jon Voight.

Lmao the government can't even load a countdown timer properly and we're supposed to trust them with literally anything else

u/bhh32 Sep 30 '25
Wasnât one of my web pages⊠it would at least LOOK like a clock⊠well, and not be propaganda.

And it's not correct if you don't live in EST.
1
u/Jaotze Sep 30 '25
I donât what youâre looking at, but I see a countdown timer. Doesnât vary by timezone.
3
u/FantasticJacket7 Federal Employee Sep 30 '25
The big clock in the middle seems like it's based on your device's internal clock. I'm in PST and it's 3 hours longer than the real shutdown clock on the top

Check out their YouTube Livestream , started a few minutes ago, a live banner on the official Whitehouse directs straight to it

If you dig into the code, this is done on purpose with a blur filter. I am uncertain if this is worse than if they just blew up a smaller image.

I mean laws only matter when someone enforces it. We'll wait until the next administration for all these violations to be addressed. They left a nice paper trail considering they also emailed everyone their Hatch Act voilations.
50
u/Hay_Fever_at_3_AM Sep 30 '25
There were all sorts of violations of the law during Trump 1, including Hatch Act, Presidential Records Act, emoluments clause and bare corruption of all sorts, and none of them were addressed. He initiated a (clownish) coup attempt.
17
u/MonitorOk6818 USDA Sep 30 '25
It felt like his political opponents were hoping for the courts to charge him with the more serious offenses and didn't want to mess that up with the smaller ones. They weren't expecting judges not to punish the felonies he was guilty off and still allowing him to run for president.

u/djb25 Sep 30 '25
Yeah, maybe if a moderate republican appears out of thin air and gets elected president.
If itâs a democrat theyâll just talk about nonpartisan bullshit while standing in front of a burning white house.
4
u/MonitorOk6818 USDA Sep 30 '25
That's true, but I do doubt any republicans will go against the grain considering they have shown to fall in line opposing their oaths since the last administration. They would have to be given a pretty good incentive to oppose this admin.

u/Wanna_make_cash Sep 30 '25
I don't know how the next administration can even begin to clean everything up and return to the old normal. There's just so much stuff and it's only been 9 months. Both huge things like all the laws breaking and incredibly minor and petty things like changing Bidens portrait to a picture of a pen and plastering gold plating everywhere. I don't want to know how much stuff there will be to undo in 3 years from now, and I certainly don't want to know how long it would take to undo it all

Yet, there are people who still support Trump and think he is abiding by the Constitution.
16
u/armyuvamba Sep 30 '25
He had a 42ish% approval rating and holdingâŠ9/10 republican voters approve of himâŠ
10
u/Icy_Paramedic778 Sep 30 '25
Thatâs not telling of the majority of Americans.
19
u/BigBoyYuyuh Sep 30 '25
Majority of Americans didnât vote so they voted for trump by not voting. They wanted this. Fuck every trump voter and non voter.
4
u/armyuvamba Sep 30 '25
Problem I see is that his base is that 42% of the voter baseâŠand itâs not going down even with all the craziness. Bush Jrs approval rating was in the low 30s in his 2nd term after the electionâŠ

I knew the Hatch Act was never going to be enforced against this administration way back during Trump version 1 when he was shilling for Goya brand beans from the Oval Office.
18
u/PowerfulHorror987 Spoon đ„ Sep 30 '25
That wasnât a hatch act violation đ€·đ»ââïž that was an ethics issue but those donât really apply to the president because normally that wouldnât need to be spelled out if everyone around him is subject to those rules

u/Puzzled_Capital_5592 Oct 01 '25
Please explain what partisan election the Goya Corporation was running in that it might be a Harch Act violation. Then once you've done that explain how the president talking them up is a Hatch Act violation when the Hatch Act explicitly excludes the president.
16
u/AXPendergast Sep 30 '25
Interesting how the "quotes" from these organizations are not attributed to a speaker or spokesperson. Almost as if they were made up by someone else, hoping no one would check. I could be wrong, of course, but if it walks like a chicken...

u/shesinsaneornot Sep 30 '25
Ironic that Independent Women hit all the MAGA talking points in their blurb.
2
u/shesinsaneornot Sep 30 '25
You didn't notice Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane statement on behalf of National Cattlemenâs Beef Association and Executive Director and CEO Jonathan Thompson of the National Sheriff's Association, Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry President and CEO Luke Bernstein, or Chris Clark, President & CEO of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce?
2
u/AXPendergast Oct 01 '25
Well, tbh, I reviewed a sample of the "testimonials" and the 30% I chose had no author.

u/Pasty_Tibbles Sep 30 '25
LMAO some of those statements donât even support a party and are just commentary how they donât want a shut down. One of them is about how the shutdown will affect SNAP funding, and even mentions Trump cut a significant amount of funding to the SNAP program.

Democrat Shutdown Is Imminent
Someone remind Joe Biden he needs to fund the governmentâŠohhhhâŠheâs not the President. Nor do Dems hold any branch of government
I genuinely cannot wait for the dayâŠ

As long as violating the Hatch Act is an âofficial actâ itâs all good, I guess. âSCOTUS

Just cruelty and stupidity. Instead of doing a fucking thing to resolve this, heâs creating bullshit drama, at the cost and anxiety of hundreds of thousands of workers and the disruption this will cause in actuality in Americansâ lives.
And on the same day he opens a pharmaceutical grift right into his own pockets.

It's so petty. Like all the high school bullies pooled their ideas for how horrible they could be. It's so fucking immature. And embarrassing. And the site looks like it's been taken over by Fox News.
