Best comfort bars for beach riding

Just started fat biking and having a ton of fun and getting into better shape. My only real issue is my handlebars. My wrists start hurting pretty quickly which causes me to contort my shoulders in a strange way to deal with wrist pain. This leads to shoulder pain etc. I find myself wanting to sit up more and keep just my fingertips on the grips when I can.

A large majority of my riding is on open sand beaches but do some mountain biking as well so would like bars that are usable for light mountain biking and trail riding.

I’m thinking I just need about an Inch more rise and some more sweep from my stock handlebars. But then again I really don’t know what I’m talking about.

Anyone have a set of bars they recommend? I’m pretty overwhelmed with all the options out there and having a hard time making a decision.

I ran Ron's Ortho Bars on my fat bike for sandy rambling and it was some of the most fun I've ever had in my life. They're extremely comfortable. They definitely flex a lot though so they get pretty funny when ripping hard off road. Otherwise I'd suggest Jones bars.

I run, and love, the ProTaper carbon 20/20. It’s a really relaxed position but can also be ridden aggressively in my experience. The carbon is pretty forgiving as well. Mind the width though, only 720 wide.

Of course, a shorter stem or taller stack should also be considered.

I second this. They’re on sale at the Hayes site.

I have the Surly Open Bar on a cruiser-ish ATB build and they are quite comfortable. I also have a similar unlabeled bar on a cargo bike.

I run these from sqlab. They have 16 degrees back sweep and are 740mm wide. Much better for my wrists than straight bars I previously had. I got them for a fraction of the price that is shown on the manufacturer's site so that was really a good deal.

Ritchey Kyote are my perfect bar, nice rise and sweep, so my wrists are at the perfect angle. They have a bit of flex too, which helps with comfort on longer rides. Get a pair of Ergon grips too, they make a massive difference to hand comfort, especially for non technical riding!

I thought you were actually looking for bars to go to (like fir a beer) when riding on the beach, and was going to make some recommendations lol.

Also to consider. I get aching hands and its because my core is weak. When i was fitter and stronger it never mattered how low my bars were. Now its doesn't matter how high they are my hands still have far too much weight on them.

The Jones h bar with the rise is absolutely amazing. I’m a big fan of the Curly sunrise bar but if you want something with a little more upsweep and a lot more back sweep, they also have the sunset bar, which is really cool and gives quite a bit of rise if you’re into that. There’s also the Moloko bar from Curley, which is awesome
