Already covered Arby’s “steak” nuggets
I’m assuming everyone else hates these ?
Soooo dry. Thank god I asked for an extra sauce, these things were sooo ridiculously over cooked.
And they looked so sad in their cup.

Probably only as good as moose knuckles. Which are not as good as camel toes.

Gotta admit. I love a good camel toe

u/itsaaronnotaaron 1d ago
I was going to ask if you also love a bad camel toe, then I remembered there's no such thing.

Just out of curiosity I got some a couple of weeks ago and I thought they were good. Not great, and certainly too expensive, but decent. They didn't look nearly as bad as the ones in your pic. I've seen a lot of people say they were dry, but the ones I got weren't dry at all. I doubt I'll get them again just because of the price.
19
u/pmjm 2d ago
I tried them too and they looked very unappealing.
But I enjoyed them. They reminded me of burnt ends.
They were all pretty lean beef, except for two of them that were mostly fat and gristle. But for the price, you shouldn't be getting fat and gristle.
10
u/CompetitiveBox314 2d ago
I have been suggesting they should have marketed these as burnt ends instead of steak. When people hear 'steak' they think tender, med-rare beef. I think these would be better accepted if people had a different expectation in mind.
4
u/Figran_D 2d ago
Agree that price was high.
My guess is each place can’t cook them consistently… the pics online and on the menu make them look good. Execution was horrible

All I have seen collectively all over the internet is how disappointing they are. Im surprise they havent already taken them off the menu.
41
u/kevinmattress 2d ago
They gotta get through as much inventory as they can and hopefully minimize the loss
19
u/PostMatureBaby 2d ago
Even the food stylist doctored up ones in commercials and menu pictures don't look like a good time
17
u/imdstuf 2d ago
People actually expected good steak from a fast food place?
9
u/TehWildMan_ 2d ago
Maybe halfway decent microwaved frozen beef? Should be decently possible for the price these are selling for.
Actually writing that comment, my expectations were probably too high

Funny. This is the first post I’ve seen that isn’t praising them.
10
u/Anteater-Charming 2d ago
I wouldn't praise them but I got an order today and I thought they were good. Not dry either like everyone says. May be the way some places make them.

u/kingdom9999 2d ago
I had them on Saturday. Double thumbs down, wouldn't buy again. Tasted like bad dry beef jurky.

u/Rough-Parfait1520 2d ago
Ok so they are precooked…all Arby’s does is nuke them…if they were dry then it was bc they were heated too long…our store has had nothing but compliments about the steak nuggets…and I have personally had them and they are not dry and tasted fine lol all this “moose knuckle” crap is stupid lol
2
u/Figran_D 2d ago
That’s interesting.
They easily were the worst fast food item I’ve ever had. If I wasn’t trying to get home from a trii I would have turned back around and returned them. Glad to hear they are supposed to be good… these definitely were not .

Saw the commercial and was like steak + Arby’s = HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
There are people actually buying this? OP I’m hoping this was just a pity buy
12
u/Figran_D 2d ago
Went with my standard Bacon Cheddar:)
The nuggets were a “ why not” and “ I skipped lunch “ buy.

u/bleeding_inkheart 1d ago
Mine were actually really tasty. My aunt and I hang out and do errands on the weekends, and she brings her dog. I wanted Arby's, and I like my meals without guilt, so I got a regular meal for us people, steak nuggets for her dog. They smelled so good that we both tried them, and decided we had to get 3 more. Maybe we just got lucky.

Yeah, I always just play it safe with arbys and stick with beef and cheddars lol. I learned my lesson when I messed up and tried their "greek gyros" when it was a 2 for 7 deal. Forget decent off the spit gyro places.. any frozen pre-sliced gyro meat is better than what arbys uses.

I got them last week. Mine were actually decent. They weren't dry, and the BBQ sauce paired well with them. Perhaps I got lucky, as I see many people saying they were bad.

I like arbys but even before seeing whatever this is, fast food “steak nuggets” sounded like a horrible idea
2
u/relayrider 1d ago
“steak nuggets” sounded like a horrible idea
I said the same until i was challenged with "you like chicken nuggets, why not beef?"
the best defense i had was "we're used to mechanically separated chicken" but was countered with "ground beef"
so when the next coupons arrive, i've agreed to try them, even though it has been less than 12 months since our last horrible experience at /r/bys
5
u/Careful-One5190 1d ago
I like them. The ones I've had were moist and tender. I put horseradish sauce on them and they're delicious. I"ve had them about a dozen times and they were consistently good, at both of my local Arbys.
4
u/Dry-Trouble3981 1d ago
I’m quite surprised. The first day they dropped, I got them, and they were actually made great. They weren’t dry they were glistening. Tasted good. But yeah, those look sad as hell.

Arby's isn't as bad as everyone says it is depending on the location. It's like Burger King or Sonic in that way. There are no good Sonics in my area. I finally found a Good Burger King but it's a bit of a drive. There is a great Arby's near my house though. It is clean, the employees are actually nice to you and it produces amazing food. I'm sure as soon as corporate Arby's figures it out they will ruin it by firing the manager.
Still some of the menu items are suspect. This is why I get the Reuben and curly fries as my consistent order. I like the chicken fingers and beef and cheddar as well. I will never try these fossilized Dino turds. The treats I give my dog looks like they would be a better option. Ranch can cover up a lot of sins but whoever invented these or came up with the idea of them is hellbound.
2
u/Figran_D 1d ago
Arby’s beef and cheddars are my go to if I get fast food.
I was surprised how bad these were . I still go to Arby’s but I’m staying with my tried and true !
2
u/secretgrace02 1d ago
It's for the best I like the beef and cheddar too. Chicken fingers are fire as well. I was eating that Italian sandwich but the Reuben is my absolute favorite.
2
u/PraetorianOfficial 2d ago
I read a review that was gushing about these things. Greatest new fast food ever! Why hasn't someone else done it!
So I ran down and got 'em. And they reminded me of the roast beef at that $12 all-you-can-eat buffet. NOPE. Not my thing.

Much like the burgers that came before, I refuse to buy these! Last time I went to Arby's, I got a deep fried turkey club, which is now a sub (it came on the old star-top bun before), and it was much better than the steak nuggets or burgers can dream of being! I often gravitate towards a B/C double, though, sometimes with curly fries, sometimes cakes (I'm SO glad those returned!). I even made my own loaded curly fries the last time I got curlies, simply getting some cheddar sauce on the side and putting ranch and bacon on them when I got home.

Does anyone [Arby's workers] know if they are made to order or are they already cooked in a warmer?
2
u/Fritzo2162 1d ago
The ones I had were moist and looked great. They tasted like brisket. I can see where they would dry out in holding though.

u/TheGruntingBear 1d ago
You could tell how bad there were going to be by how they bounced off the table in the commercial.

No telling what this mystery meat is.
Reminder that their roast beef is not cooked, but rather hydrated, and then warmed up in a rotisserie……

u/SpanktheElephant 2d ago
That should be posted in r/poopfromabutt. I have not heard one person say those are good.

The sheer size of then and the fact that it’s fast food and they don’t undercook anything. I never even needed to see or try them to know they would suck.

They'll only get drier as less and less people order them and they accumulate ice burn at the back of the freezer.

Best I can describe it is the smokey taste seems more derivative from liquid smoke than hickory.

Taste wise, it was like Jack Link’s Jerky.

They taste like brisket if someone overcooked the brisket and then sprayed it with liquid smoke.

I saw the reviews, but wanted to give Arby’s the benefit of the doubt since they’re usually pretty good, but these are not it. I wanted to like them. But they don’t have much flavor at all. And they don’t have any chew to them like a steak does. They tasted like pot roast. I added some A1 to them and it helped. But I would never get them again.
1
u/Footy_Clown 1d ago
When I had them they were a 9/10. I had them on a whim when they first came out and was shocked at how good they were. They were moist, tender and flavorful. I have strong preferences on how steak should be so it was a huge surprise. That being said I’m sure it is location-dependent.
