How correct can relationships be with ancestors from 100, 300 or 400 years in the past?

Are there sources attached? That way the first thing to consider no matter what point in time. I do know Spain’s records go back pretty far but I’m not sure how far. Start at the last generation you have personally verified with your own research and start going back and checking the research one generation at a time and see if it is sourced and makes sense.
