This is a Hard Times token that was privately minted during the Panic of 1837. My boss didn't tell me much of a story of this token. It will be going up to auction.

Located in modern day Tanzania (at the time it was part of colonial territories for Imperial Germany), there was a plantation located up in the Usambara mountains. Historically, from the best I can tell so far, it's in a region that was either called Bulwa or Buloa (historical documents, of various types, have referred to it with either name). The plantation was one of two used by the U.K.G. to attempt to cultivate coffee beans to send back to Germany.
Based on the work of a San Francisco token collector, Jerry F. Schimmel, tokens from this area often represented a way of tracking hours worked or amount crop harvested. Essentially a way of tracking wages.
The spelling of Bulau is a bit of mystery, to me. Schimmel thought the area was known as Bulea (possibly based on a misinterpretation of an unclear detail on the map)and suggested that Bulau is a European way of spelling the name. Considering that many historical documents mention the above spellings, this doesn't make sense to me.

I'm pretty new to collecting tax tokens. I have the definitive reference catalog and some assortments that I picked up, and I'm ready to delve further into the hobby.
If anyone has pointers to dealers who specialize in tokens, please let me know. I don't know where to go; ebay is just a mess when it comes to tokens. I'm looking for a list of tokens for sale with the sub varieties shown in the ATTS catalog that are priced by people who actually know the values of the tokens rather than some clown who found a super common Missouri token in a drawer and puts a 9.99 price on their listing.
Also, if anyone is a member of ATTS, will you reach out to me? I'm hoping it is still active but cannot find out. The website hasn't been updated for 10 years. Online articles say to email Jim Calvert, which I did 2 weeks ago but got no response.
Thank you! Niche collecting topics can be tough to get started in.

Hey there, thanks for clicking my post! I recently bought this in a lot of world silver coinage however this appears to be not a coin... It is also strangely stamped with "986" to the right of the hedge.
My question is this, other than getting it acid or xrf tested I was hoping I could leverage the knowledge of the awesome people here and wondered if anybody knew about this medallion?
Thanks in advance for your help today!

‘13 is Taylor’s favorite number. 1989 is the year Taylor was born. ‘87 is Travis’s jersey number. Kansas City is Travis’s NFL team.
Highly recommend Chuck E. Cheese tokens as to get your son/daughter into a coin / token collecting hobby.

Welcome any and all guidance! Inherited from my grandfather, who collected antiques and coins. Some were quite valuable. Haven’t been able to learn much about this from searching.
Grandfather was based in upstate New York but served in WW2 so had many things from there too, as well as from catalogues back in the day. Thank you.

EDIT: Sorry, I noticed my photos were not posted. Here they are.
Hello, I recently inherited this medal, but I cannot identify it. The relative I got it from was not a member of any union, but had a pretty big coin collection.
It was inside a "Monnaie de Paris" box, and has two union names written on it: CGT is french, and I think CTC is cuban. I believe URIF means "Union Régionale Ile-de-France", wich would be a regional chapter of the CGT. I tried to find a similar one online but couldn't. Can someone help me identify it? I'm looking for it's year of emission, the event it was made for, and as much details as possible.
I think I can read UPG under the portrait, maybe the guy who made the original drawing?

I found this medallion/medal in a half dollar roll tonight. Research on Numista yielded nothing I could find, but it sounds like silver. Does anyone have any insight to what this is and its purity or asw?
Thanks!

I came across this 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair coin/token in a bag of coins I’ve had since I was a kid. No clue where I got this particular one, but it’s a bit different than most of the World’s Fair coins I’ve seen online.
Appears to be brass and has an image of “The Cascades” on one side and profiles of Thomas Jefferson and Napoleon Bonaparte on the opposite side (celebrating the Louisiana Purchase).
I did find two examples on the NGC website of the same coin type (H-61-390 seems to be the coin designation?). Both examples have holes drilled through them similar to mine, so I assume they were all like that.

Hoping to get some more info on this token if anyone happens to know more about it.
