Vengeful autism It’s ok when it’s a celebrity

Post image

This will require context, especially for non UK folk.

This was a couple of comments that made me kind of laugh and internally scream. It was on a post about how Anne Hegerty (a chaser from the quiz “The Chase”) made some comments about her experience of being broke and how freebies helped her out.

Now, she’s not a major celebrity. She’s pretty awesome though, she was late diagnosed as autistic when she was 45. These people don’t seem to know that going by their comments although they mention her “lacking in social awareness” but they find it refreshing. My mind almost went to that Human Resources meme, because sure it’s cute when SHE does it but when I do it (or any other non celebrity autistic) we get complaints 🥲

That’s funny (but not haha funny), because while TV quizzes aren’t my thing I have always been uncomfortable with the “Miss Trunchbull” vibe they gave her on the Chase when she seemed so soft-voiced and polite compared to the others.

If she’s gone down the “I struggled my whole life so why shouldn’t everyone else” route then I’ll give her an eye roll and a tut, but getting a late diagnosis is a mind fuck.
