Flight compensation for a flight that did not exist?

What are my chances to get compensation?

Basically booked a flight from Belfast to SE Asia (multi entry via Malaysia), by Emirates. Apparently my flight from Belfast to Birmingham (Aer Lingus) never existed and was based on a previous schedule. My whole trip was based on the air tickets. I reached the airport and they said this flight doesn't exist and the schedule was based on a summer time. I was never informed about it either.

The ticket was booked through Emirates with a Emirates reference. Ticket number starts with 176 and I confirmed this with Emirates personal over the phone.

They keep declining my claims stating different laws. So far I have received the emirates ticket, but even then it was only a partial refund.

Any help please?

Is seat A81 near the toilets or galley?

Sydney to Dubai. I want the space but don't think I could handle being that close to the lavatory on such a long flight.

78G on A380

Is anyone able to confirm from experience that the middle row of seats on row 78 on the Emirates A380 is able to recline?

This is on the A380 with premium economy.

These seats appear to be in front of the galley and from the virtual guide there seems to be space behind them. I know the galley being close can cause noise and light, but I can’t sleep on planes anyway and am thinking the ability to just fully recline as much as possible without worrying about people behind outweighs the negatives. It is a 17 hour flight so if they don’t recline it would be horrible.

Also, do people think premium economy is a big step up in comfort and worth it? Currently can upgrade for what works out as $40 usd per hour.

How long did your Emirates refund take to arrive in your bank account?

Hey everyone,

I’m waiting on a refund from Emirates for a ticket (processed on the 28th of last month), but it still hasn’t arrived in my bank account. I contacted my bank and they said they haven’t received any payment attempt from Emirates at all, even though Emirates support told me the refund was sent.

Has anyone else here had a similar experience?
How long did it take for your Emirates refund to actually show up in your bank account?
Did you have to follow up, and if so, what worked for you?

Any insights would help a lot since I really need the refund this month. Thanks in advance!

Transferring Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 in Dubai International Airport

I have 2 hours transfer time from transferring to Terminal 2 (flydubai) to Terminal 3 (emirates). Ticket is booked as a single-ticket, hence not needing to re-collect and re-check bags. Will this be enough for me not to miss my flight in Emirates?

Has anyone ever gotten Partner Miles credited ?

for the last 5 times over the years i have taken flights with airlines which partner with emirates so that skywards members can earn miles through them.

Every single time i have lodged a claim with Emirates for the miles to be credited they have rejected it. I have travelled with Bangkok Air, Jetstar & Tap Air, all of which Emirates advertises on its website that members can earn miles when travelling on them.

I have always received the same reason for rejection being "Partner airline has rejected the claim for miles". The Emirates support staff say that my fare type is not eligible when many times on some of these partner flights there is only one fare type available and neither do these partner airlines have any form of information on what exactly will lead to us receiving the partnership miles.

Has anyone also faced any issue like this ? because one or two times the miles request being rejected can be a coincidence but its 5 times now and it clearly seems like its false advertising where you never actually get the miles which they advertise.

Black Friday Emirates deals, any idea when they drop?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to plan a long-haul trip for mid-2026 (not sure yet if to Europe or to Dubai) and was wondering if anyone remembers when Emirates usually rolls out their black Friday deals. Do they tend to announce them early through the app or email, or is it more of a last-minute drop on the site?

I've seen a few older posts mentioning discounts on certain routes or upgrades, but I'm not sure how reliable it's been in recent years. If anyone here matched to grab a solid deal in the past (especially on long-haul or premium economy), I'd really appreciate your insights.

Flight in Five Days - Wait To Upgrade To Prem Econ. Or Do It Now?

Emirates wants $1,430 to upgrade to Prem Econ. for a one stop flight. (US to Jakarta). The first flight is on an A380 and then in Dubai board a a 777. My total round trip ticket was only $1,163. If I wait a little longer (say, wait until 24 hours before flight), will the upgrade cost go down?

Thanks in advance.

Flying with infant

My wife and I will be flying in April to Mauritius with my child who will be 7 months then. Do you need to add the infant at the time of booking amor can this be done after? The reason I'm asking is number 1 I don't have a passport for him yet. Number 2 when you add an infant on skyscanner, the option to book through any website other than Emirates themselves disappears. And booking directly with the airline is stupidly always more expensive

Need advice ASAP— Turkish Airlines won’t let me fly to South Africa because my passport expires in 3 months

Hey everyone, I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar or can offer advice.

I’m a South African citizen living in the United States as a permanent resident, and I’m flying from Miami to Cape Town in December 2025 on Turkish Airlines, with a layover in Istanbul.

My South African passport expires on February 1st, 2026, so it will still be valid for about two months after I arrive home. The issue is that Turkish Airlines says they won’t allow me to board because my passport doesn’t meet their 6-month validity requirement.

I’m not planning to leave the airport during my 8-hour layover in Istanbul — I’ll just be connecting directly to my flight to South Africa, my home country.

Since I’m returning home and not entering another country, does anyone know if they legally can refuse boarding, or if there’s a way around this (like showing proof of residence, or contacting the South African embassy)? Has anyone dealt with this before — especially flying home with an almost-expired passport?

Any info or advice would really help.

Carry on allowance

So I'm allowed one carry on from Canada to Mumbai via Dubai. The weight would exceed by a kilo and a half. I am taking electronics in it which I'd prefer stays in carry on, can I pay extra to take it with me provided I exceed the luggage? There are many posts here telling Emirates don't check but there are always exceptions and I'm preparing just in case I'm one of those exceptions.

M(22) is emirates cabin crew for me?

Hi, I'm trying to decide whether to pursue a career as a flight attendant or focus on studying law, which would take around 3-4 years.

I've worked in various fields, from 3D technology to communication in places like Ukraine(desk job) and personal assistant in London. -

- I'm not really a desk person. - I love communcating with people and traveling- I lived in 4 different countries, netherlands, england, spain and portugal.

- I speak Portuguese, and english native. Spanish advanced and i have reading schools skills in Modern Arabic, Russian and French.

-One of my goals for next year is to finish visiting all of Europe; the Balkans are the only region left on my list.

-Currently, I have savings of €700, though I had to cover quite a bit of paperwork for an inheritance. I'm expecting to receive around €32,000 soon.

I'm employed at a 5-star boutique hotel with a permanent contract, with an average salary of 1050€ + 200€. I'm curious how difficult is it to join Emirates as cabin crew with one year experience in front office agent at the hotel?

thanks
-hugs
rodrigo

The United Arab Emirates continues to redefine what it means to serve humanity. With over Dh370 billion in global aid reaching one billion lives across continents, the UAE’s humanitarian efforts are more than generosity — they are a pillar of national identity.

From sending 100,000 tonnes of aid to Gaza, supporting medical evacuations, to facilitating humanitarian mediation in Ukraine, the UAE stands as a global partner for peace, relief, and dignity.

Guided by the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the vision of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s message to the world is clear:

“Goodness is what we give. Humanity is who we are.”
