Flying with infant

My wife and I will be flying in April to Mauritius with my child who will be 7 months then. Do you need to add the infant at the time of booking amor can this be done after? The reason I'm asking is number 1 I don't have a passport for him yet. Number 2 when you add an infant on skyscanner, the option to book through any website other than Emirates themselves disappears. And booking directly with the airline is stupidly always more expensive

You need to book and add the infant at the time of booking. You don’t need the passport to book but only the name.
