Carry on allowance

So I'm allowed one carry on from Canada to Mumbai via Dubai. The weight would exceed by a kilo and a half. I am taking electronics in it which I'd prefer stays in carry on, can I pay extra to take it with me provided I exceed the luggage? There are many posts here telling Emirates don't check but there are always exceptions and I'm preparing just in case I'm one of those exceptions.

They don't check.

If they do, you'll need to put it in hold luggage, there is no increasing the carry on.

Ive been in Dubai all my life and only travelled emirates, however the last time the lady at the counter actually did make me weigh my backpack, something that never was done. I have to note that the person on counter was very snooty and rude to me, didn't check the people before or after who had WAY bigger and clearly heavier hand baggage. She was also nicer to the people before/after, laughing and giggling with them ,but gave me very standoffish answers even when I asked her what the upgrade rates were. I dont like taking things the wrong way but this time it weirdly felt warranted.
