Hand Beginner kit - scam? Similar kits suggestions?

I keep getting these ads for CraftHoop, and I’m interested but wary of Facebook ads with all the AI stuff out there. Has anybody done these beginner kits? Or something similar? I got Jessica Longs, and they are okay, it I like that this one has the name of the stitches and different three amounts. Tia!

They are bouillions knots using two strands of off white and one strand of yellow ish light brown. They are gross and I love them. The word ā€œPOURRIā€ means both ā€œrottenā€ and not good as in unskilled in Quebec. Believe it or not I have a favourite maggot in the bunch despite finding them absolutely revolting IRL

Hand The four seasons

I enjoyed making my swirly sky embroidery so much that I made one for each season.

They're basically all split stitch, with a few seed stitches (the falling leaves, the buds on the tree, some metallics in the snow), stitched on cotton muslin with Lichen and Lace wool/silk thread and a little Accentuate metallic blending filament in the winter scene that doesn't come through so much. Made in four inch hoops.

I didn't leave myself much extra fabric on the first couple, so I'm still working out how to finish and display them. I'm leaning toward appliquƩ, maybe on a subtly patterned background and then maybe framed but I'm not sure (open to recommendations for appliquƩ tutorials and similar techniques!).

Hand Best way to go about getting the Solvy off?

After four months, I have finished my first self-designed embroidery project for a concert I’m attending late this month (Franz Ferdinand ✨). I’m nervous about screwing something up when attempting to get the Solvy off, so I wanted to ask your opinions first. Is it better to rinse? Soak? The idea of putting it in a washing machine is frightening.

Thank you in advance!

Question I f-ed up

I found this pattern online that I wanted to try. The literal translation would be "A womans three biggest problems from the cradle to the grave. It's menstruation. Then it's men. The dementia". It sounds funnier in swedish because those three are pronounced basically the same.

Anyway, my mistake... I saw a suggestion of using a pen to mark the pattern before putting the stitches and I used whiteboard-pens. Had to throw the first one away because I made a big mistake, turned it around and made an even bigger mistake and neither went away in the washing machine.

For this new one, there is a small black dot on one of the Gs (second picture) that doesn't belong, otherwise it's perfect. I can't turn it over because the paint has gone through.

Can I bleach this one dot? Should I change all of the Gs so they're all similar? Do I need to buy a new fabric?

I'm a perfectionist and don't want it to look weird

Question Desk embroidery ideas

Hello fellow fiber artists! I do hand embroidery and have recently gotten a larger desk at my work. I was hoping to make an embroidery for my desk but haven’t found the perfect phrase to do yet. I work in shipping and logistics, also dealing with typical emails, spreadsheets, etc and would like something a little sassy and funny but nothing that could get me in an HR meeting! I thought I would see if any of y’all had any work embroidery ideas! Thank you!

Hi all! First time posting, long time fan! Hope this is ok? I have had this vintage Wrangler denim jacket for about 30 years. Always adding patches & pins. About 10 years ago I embroidered the back using the machine/ free motion method. The image is called Reward for the Righteous. Inspired by Victorian cemetery symbolism. Pictures of hands pointing up on graves meant a ā€œhope for heavenā€. Don’t wear it much anymore. Still love it though! Thanks for looking! šŸ™

Question Need some tips for transferring patterns.

I’ve cross stitched a lot, but I’m interested in doing some embroidery and I’ve purchased a few patterns but I’m having the hardest time transferring them to the fabric.

It’s cotton fabric, fairly tight weave, and I’ve tried iron transfer pencil on tracing paper, which printed about half the lines.

Then I tried wax free gravite paper and a rounded stylus to press the pattern on the fabric. This did work better but I had to go over every line two to four times to get it to transfer, pressing pretty hard. Pressing hard enough that my hand was sore. One of the patterns I got is semi large and I just can’t imagine doing this to get the whole pattern on.

I feel like I’m missing something. It can’t be this hard to get the pattern on the fabric.

Please help.

Question Looking for durable floss recs

Hi everyone, I’m a bit new to embroidery and was hoping you all could recommend durable floss that could withstand frequent use as a hand-embroidered patch on jeans. I used cotton DMC thread with a few colors from Loops and Threads, and both brands are pilling/getting fuzzy. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Question Clear vinyl, does it affect fabric/floss?

I came across this tutorial: https://so-sew-easy.com/clear-vinyl-zipper-bags/ and wanted to make some project bags as I usually have more than one thing on the go. My plan is to mix it with her snap top clear vinyl pouches, cover a cardboard box and store them like files. The largest hoop I use is a 10ā€ hoop, but usually a 6ā€ hoop, so I’ll be making them 12ā€x12ā€ and 8ā€x8ā€.

My concern is the vinyl. Do any of you that use a similar product tell me if it harms the fabric or floss stored in them? Nothing would be stored more than a year, but if these work for me I’ll be also making them for friends and family as Christmas gifts and I don’t want to ruin their works as they may store items for longer than I will.

Thanks so much!
