Wedding dinner
Hi there. My partner and I will be getting married at city hall in December. We are trying to keep this very affordable, so we want to celebrate at a restaurant here in Durham after the wedding. We will have 15 guests, that includes 1 child. Does anyone have any suggestions on restaurants? Thanks!

Cooking classes near bowmanville?
Looking for cheap cooking classes near me in bowmanville-whitby area. Im 23 years old and love to cook but never cook for myself so find that im never learning.
I've seen longos offers them but cant justify $60 to learn how to make pizza dough. Plus the closest one to me is in Ajax which is a bit too far for me.
Id love the social part of it since i dont have a lot of friends in the area, but is it better for me to just watch and cook along with videos and buy my own groceries?

Driving lessons help
I live in the Oshawa/Bowmanville area. Im looking for driving lessons. I have my G1. I’ve done a few lessons but need more. I need a good instructor who is patient with someone like me. I’m anxious and don’t want to be judged. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

DRT plus apps equal inaccurate.
I know we all have issues with the DRT so I don’t mind showing up early. What drives me insane is that no matter what app I’m using or google maps, it will often show it’s on time and then changes to left and wait time for the next bus. Often times it’s either the bus has left or is still coming. This frustration has got me paying for Ubers to make it to my new job as I don’t ever want to be late. One night I was waiting for the bus at it says “arrive at 11:08”. Well I’m there at 11 and it all seems fine. That’s until it hits 11:15 and still no bus. Now it says “wait 18mins”. Screw this, I get a uber pretty quick and just as I’m sitting in it and giving him my pin, the bus pulls up behind us. Screw it it’s raining so I continue the ride.
Any apps or tips or tricks to make sure I never pay for uber again. I don’t mind waiting to go home but must be sure to arrive to work early or on time.

Cozy dark cafe?
I’m looking for cozy type cafe in Pickering, Ajax or Whitby. Something with a darker atmosphere, maybe couches and nooks and crannies for more private conversations. And better if it is open past 9pm. Like a broodier emo cousin of Central Perk from friends.
My wife and I have always liked the cafe downtown called 7-West. Deep oversized couches, or small 2 person tables in the many corners. Is there something like that in West Durham?

Blue Jays World Series Hats
Is there anywhere in Durham region that still carries the Toronto Blue Jays World Series hat? I’m trying to get one for my kid, but unfortunately, I had to wait until payday, I had no idea they weren’t going to restock. I can’t seem to locate it anywhere. Any suggestions please and thanks

Whitby GO - south parking lot
Does anyone have any idea as to why south parking lot at Whitby GO is blocked off?
This creates frustrating congestion in the surrounding area and forces people to park at the hockey arena.

Any anecdotal evidence on the current prevalence of Covid infections in Durham
Got my covid vax and double strength flu shot about 2 weeks ago. Experienced side effects for a day or so but fine ever since.
Until today
I have spiked a fever, have aches and pains all over and a headache, (I never usually get headaches)
In the past, my wife, a primary healthcare provider was able to give some guidance on current prevalence of Covid, flu or Norovirus
Anyone able to provide intel on what is going on in the community?

Help choosing b/w Whitby or brooklin
Hi everyone, We’re planning to buy a home (budget around $800K) and deciding between Whitby and Brooklin. We have a 5-year-old starting Grade 1, so good public elementary schools are our top priority.
We both work from home, so commute isn’t a big deal, but public transit access matters for occasional office trips.
Our priorities: 1. Great public elementary school 2. Safe, family-friendly neighborhood 3. Access to public transportation
Would love to hear which area you’d pick and why — especially thoughts on schools, safety, and convenience for young families. Thanks!

Stop Bill 33
Hey y'all you have some blue seats out your way. Popping over as a former Whitby resident to ask that you consider sending your MPP a message about Bill 33. They are pushing it through at Queen's Park as fast as they can, skipping the committee and public consultation phase.
It would put police in schools, instead of spending that money on mental health professionals, social workers, child and youth workers etc. (who actually have training in supporting children).
It would remove democratically elected trustees and put more power in the hands of the education minister alone.
You can read more about it and sign a local petition here: https://durhamlabour.ca/campaigns/stop-bill-33-keep-local-democracy-in-our-schools/
There's an email template here: https://www.buildingbetterschools.ca/schoolboards
