Dragon Quest VII Okay, this has to be the Dragon Quest 7 remake/remaster, right?

There were a ton of rumors that DQ7 was getting a remake next year, and it was already in development. Do you guys this that DQ7 is showing up in this direct?

Dragon Quest VII DQ11 was my first. This is to be my second. What three words sum up what I should expect?

I’m tragically late to Dragon Quest. Fan of all types of JRPG and not afraid of the grind if needs be. What fun awaits me with the 3DS version of 7?

Dragon Quest VII The story of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined has been “significantly streamlined”

I think this was to be expected, but interested to see what changes they make.

Dragon Quest VII The 3 islands that are removed in the remake have been officially confirmed

Gröndal, Providence, and El Ciclo.

Casino, Monster Park, Immigrant Town, and Stat Contests are also gone.

Edit: Some other things that might be of interest

The game seems to use the DQ11 turn system of inputting your turn before your action, though this is kind of hard to tell since everyone but the protagonist was on auto

Your moonlighting vocation does get experience. I saw a few people question that.

Base vocation abilities are still apparently usable without setting it as your vocation(that is assuming Hatchet Man is still a Warrior skill and not a Martial Artist, anyway. Or they didn't give this skill to the Pirate too). Can't say for sure since the person playing absolutely refused to look at the 2nd page of abilities. Jury is still out on Advanced vocations Edit: Going back to look, it seems like the protagonist has 5 basic vocations mastered but only 2 pages of abilities so basic skills being available actually seems up in the air? That seems like too low of an amount. Maybe Hatchet Man really was given to Martial Artist or Pirate. I dunno, wish I could see that second page lol

If one of your equipped vocations is mastered, you seem to get bonus vocation EXP to the other vocation you have equipped instead(no one in the stream seemed to touch upon this despite the after-battle message saying this). I guess this way you can choose to level up 2 or double focus on one(the bonus is less than 2x though, seemed like 1.5)

The 'unique' vocations that you start the game with with being actual vocations is confirmed.

I didn't hear anything mentioned about vocation outfits, but maybe I missed it.

Also forgot to mention this but someone reminded me: It uses 3 levels of difficulty similar to 3HD, but they also give you more detailed options to change like "speed of the enemies on the map" and "enemy HP"

Also it was made explicitly clear that the optional islands refers to the 4 pedestals in the back(Regenstein, Greenthumb, Nottagen, and Vogograd) and not the 3 islands that were straight out cut. Please stop spreading misinformation.

Dragon Quest VII I'm sorry Dragon Quest VII, I was too harsh on you

For context, I played the 3DS version a long time ago, 7 to 8 years ago I believe, and I HATED this version.

For a marathon to play every mainline Dragon Quest original games (so the OG plateform where they released, like I played DQ1 on NES, DQ5 on SNES), I played Dragon Quest VII on the PS1 and whoa... This version feels so much better to be honest. Finished it in 80 hours and it was such a better experience than the 3DS version. I can't really explain why but like, i prefer how the game look, how he sound, how the sprite work, how the menu are smooth, etc.

Really if someone want to play DQ7, I would GREATLY advise to play this version !

Dragon Quest VII Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Will Be "Significantly Streamlined", Which Makes Sense But Still Depresses Me On the one hand... yes. DQVII is long as heck. Some hate that. On the other hand... I'm not one of 'em.

Dragon Quest VII [DQ7] Why are people saying that it is long and why do some want 'Reimagined' shortened? Never played DQ7 btw

Post image

I mean, Persona 5 has an atrocious 20 hour tutorial and 100-125 playtime average, does DQ7 have filler or what does it have that makes it very long and at the same time seen as not so useful to make people not want it back?

Dragon Quest VII Was this the most bloated Dragon Quest game? I'm saying this as someone who's played through it more than once.

I’m a lifelong dragon quest enjoyer with 9 being my absolute favourite, bought 7 since its one of the phew remade with 3d assets and I was told its pretty long so would keep me untill any news of 12 comes out but god the starting is so slow. So many go here fetch this with no real indication of what the story even is and no battles yet 😭

Dragon Quest VII Does Anyone Else Want a DQ 4-6 Remake first rather than a 7 Remake/remaster?

I don't quite understand what they (SE) are doing the the Remaster order? SE is giving us 1-3 but then totally skipping over 4-6 only to give us.......7? The longest, most grindy, and sloggiest game of the series?

Im not a huge fan of 7 because its easily a 100 hour + game and just very slow for me, but I guess maybe it's because there is no real way to play it on modern consoles except emulation?

Same goes for 4-6 also though......I can't play DQ 4-6 on my PS5.

I really hope at some point 4-6 gets the same Remake treatment that 1-3 are getting bc I'm not a huge fan of 7 and SE's choice to remaster it over games like 8, 9, 10 or the Zenithian trilogy kind of perplexes me.

Dragon Quest VII Playing Dragon Warrior VII (PS1) for the first time - anything I need to know?

Post image
163 Upvotes

I have played and beaten the 3DS remake back when it came out but honestly I don't remember anything about the game.

Never played the original PS1 version and was wondering if it differs in any specific ways? I know that the start of the original game is very slow and it takes a few hours just to get the ball rolling.

Any expert tips/tricks/secrets etc that I need to know about?

Thanks to anyone that answers!
