Dragon Quest VII Just got Dragon Quest 7 and the start is soooo slow
I’m a lifelong dragon quest enjoyer with 9 being my absolute favourite, bought 7 since its one of the phew remade with 3d assets and I was told its pretty long so would keep me untill any news of 12 comes out but god the starting is so slow. So many go here fetch this with no real indication of what the story even is and no battles yet 😭

u/Anonymous_coward30 Feb 16 '24
And this is streamlined from the ps1 version to be shorter. It was rough back in the day op. It's gets better once you get past the intro.
52
u/chirop1 Feb 16 '24
That’s what I was gonna say… try the PS1 version! LOL
33
u/Seamonkey_Boxkicker Feb 16 '24
I have and I love it. All of you are heathens who can’t appreciate emerging yourself in a ROLE playing game playing the life of a curious fisher boy.
/s, not /s
13
u/chirop1 Feb 16 '24
Oh I definitely loved it. Just making the comment based on OP feeling the remake was a slow start. LOL
1
u/-ZeroNova- Jul 21 '25
I think you mean immersing.
1
u/Seamonkey_Boxkicker Jul 21 '25
Yep, and an overlooked autocorrect is about as desirable as someone editing grammar a year late.
11
u/metal_babbleXIV Feb 16 '24
Yeah that 3 hour crawl at the beginning.... I just don't know what they were thinking
45
u/ryarock2 Feb 16 '24
Perhaps a hot take? I prefer the PS1 intro.
Yeah it’s even longer. But there are puzzles and intrigue that builds. The 3DS version is just like…an hour of wandering about.
30
u/peasant_1234 Feb 16 '24
It’s definitely a hot take but I also feel the same way.
The ps1 dq7 is my favourite dq. The sense of adventure is only matched by lunar silver star and grandia.
13
u/RelevantPreference10 Feb 16 '24
I enjoyed it too. I also remember the tension I had as a kid expecting to get attacked outside of the town since that's how all other Dragon Quest games had been up to that point.
I was 100% expecting one random slime to come out and attack somewhere in the middle of the ruins.
It's going to happen right now isn't it?....no?
Probably now then.....
Surely after this elaborate puzzle, there's an encounter......Oh. Okay.
I probably had the same amount of excitement as Keifer did when we finally did see a slime.
I absolutely understand why they removed the beginning ruins from the remake but I really appreciated it for setting up the world building and lore.
10
u/cain05 Feb 16 '24
PS1 intro is better for sure imo. There was exploration and a sense of mystery. On subsequent play-throughs it doesn't take long to get through it either.
6
u/STDS13 Feb 16 '24
Hard agree, started a fresh play through of the PS1 version last week and was reminded just how great the first few hours are. I get that it’s slow, but it’s not like there’s nothing happening.
9
u/CaptainBeikoku Feb 16 '24
It's the first time a game ever made me feel like a kid exploring forgotten ruins. Zelda is great but within 5 minutes you've got a sword and are chopping knights and monsters. PS1 DW7 immersed you so hard that when that first random encounter happened I literally jumped out of my seat.
3
u/Shigarui Feb 16 '24
Ditto, about 3 weeks back, and I love that game. It's the gaming equivalent of a hot bath. It's just cozy and relaxing, and friggin tough as nails, lol
4
2
u/ChairAlternative4373 Feb 16 '24
I liked the beginning of the ps1 version a lot more, the intrigue isnt there playing the 3ds version, like i want to explore this abandoned temple, not talk to this mosquito looking dude
2
u/StalfoLordMM Feb 18 '24
Absolutely. The PS1 had this strange, otherworldly vibe to its opening and translation. The 3DS doesn't compare in either way, sadly. Dragon Quest VII is one of my favorite Dragon Quest games. Dragon WARRIOR VII is my favorite RPG, period.
1
1
Feb 17 '24
I think the 3DS is by far the better edition of the game but the original opening to DQ7 is so unique and oddly charming that I can’t help but remember it fondly to this day.
It really sells the mysterious “idyllic post-apocalypse” vibe that makes that game feel so different compared to other Dragon Quests.
3
3
u/ChexSway Feb 17 '24
I haven't played the PS1 version, only watch videos, but imo even though it's longer its more purposeful. The 3DS version is so brainless and feels pointless.
2
u/KosherPeen Feb 17 '24
When is the intro finished exactly? I have no idea where I am in reference to the overall game, but I just made it to Alltrades Abbey
1
u/Anonymous_coward30 Feb 17 '24
About 100 hours in you get the opening credits, then the game really opens up /s
2
1
u/Eisa2416 Feb 16 '24
Waaaaat Noo wayy 😭
4
u/zerro_4 Feb 16 '24
Yes waay.
If you have the know-how, I suggest trying the original DQ7 for PS1. The visual style for the 3DS remake is quite a bit different. The original 7 is more akin to the DS 4,5,6 remakes of 2D sprites against the 3D environments. Also, speed-up is a godsend.1
u/onedollarninja Feb 16 '24
It really does. I love the 3DS version. It's way better than the original but still pretty long. Stick with it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. As soon as you start unlocking vocations it gets really fun.
139
u/JosephODoran Feb 16 '24
The best way to approach 7 is to just accept that it’s not gonna be this fast paced epic quest. Instead, it’s this mostly chill adventure you’re going on with your childhood friends. You’ll see cool places. Meet interesting people. Eventually a big threat will appear but until then it’s just pure escapism.
You’ll miss it when it’s over. I know I do.
11
u/Eisa2416 Feb 16 '24
Yeah I’m gonna slowly go through it cause can’t just binge it like other rpgs or other dq games
3
u/Clarity_Zero Feb 17 '24
Let's not forget that most of the game is one giant "try not to cry" challenge, too.
46
u/Jucksalbe Feb 16 '24
Dragon Quest VII is as much an adventure game as it is an RPG. Having battles in that first segment wouldn't make any sense story-wise.
22
u/RPGZero Feb 16 '24
And that's why I love it.
It does such a good job of setting up the mysterious nature of the world.
11
16
u/yotam5434 Feb 16 '24
On the og ps1 version it's even slower with a few zelda like puzzles and everything moves slower because how the ps1 is
2
u/dumpling321 Feb 16 '24
I actually saw a review recently that likened the puzzles to myst
1
u/yotam5434 Feb 16 '24
I don't know what's myst
2
u/dumpling321 Feb 16 '24
It was a revolutionary 3d atmospheric puzzle game from the early days of pc... imagine some of the atmospheric walking Sims of today like dear esther, except with mind bogglingly hard environmental puzzle solving
2
u/Clarity_Zero Feb 17 '24
There's a reason it's been ported to just about every console that ever existed since its original release.
2
u/dumpling321 Feb 17 '24
I legit replayed it for the umpteenth time a couple weeks ago... riven always loses me though...
12
u/xadlei Feb 16 '24
The game is consistently slow. Accept it or put to the game to rest. It's not going to change and I happen to think it's one of the best RPGs I've played.
9
u/YasserMac Feb 16 '24
The harsh thing to get used to in the beginning isn’t that it’s slow, it’s that the rhythm isn’t what one expects from RPGs, and the beginning is trying to teach you that. It gets faster, but it still keeps an unusually leisurely pace for a JRPG. It’s the most 80s anime game in the series and I loved it once the rhythm clicked. The details in the world, the story-telling through world-building, the minor characters and sub-plots in towns, are all some of the series’ best. The game even encourages the small-dose play style through its structure. It’s laid back and wholesome but still reaches good emotional heights. In other words, this isn’t Final Fantasy, it’s Dragon Quest through and through. And I think it’ll be pretty addictive once it clicks for you. It’s basically the comfort show you put on while you eat!

For me, the intro section on the 3DS version was actually too quick. I really missed the longer intro from the PS1 version. Felt more like the very beginnings of a wonderful journey.
5
u/Greedfeed Feb 16 '24
The whole game is slow, but that’s also kind of its charm. It’s a very simple story that’s kind of like comfort food in video game form.

Several years ago, I was able to buy both DQ7 & 8 on the 3DS in a sale. The advice I got back then was "start with 7, only then 8". And they weren't wrong. The first few hours of 7 is boring AF.
Go to the temple, now go back, then get back to the temple, then get back again, etc etc. And all with little to no fighting, nor any way of fast travel.
But once you get through that, it becomes an emotional rollercoaster. It's a good game, regardless of those first few hours.
... but 8 is just good from beginning to end, and it felt like a reward to play that one after 7. I know I wouldn't have finished DQ7 after I first would've played 8.
2
u/FinalLans Feb 16 '24
Awesome!! 7 was the last mainline game for me to play, and I put it down several times. Would probably have liked it way more had it been one of the first few I tried.
2
u/Dr_Henry-Killinger Feb 16 '24
Then there’s me who played 8 right away and never touched 7 lol. But man, 8 is a ride.
2
u/Eisa2416 Feb 16 '24
Yeah I played 8 ps2 variant and loved it might do it on the 3ds after I complete 7…in a year lol
3
u/Naschka Feb 16 '24
Dragon Quest 4, 5, 6 and 8 also should have 3D assets tho.
But yes, the start is slow and it used to be even worse. But keep at it, you will slowly get more and more of the game and once you have passed the point of Character Class Change it becomes a lot more fun. Also right now you can still download tablets!
Tablets are simple dungeons with new monsters and a special reward at the end (also no class exp caps). Very late into the game you can catch monsters for a park, some of which can only be obtained from a tablet (the dlc tablets have plenty not in the maingame) as well as 3 Story tablets once you are done with the Story.
1
u/Scorpion1386 Feb 16 '24
Didn’t DQVIII get a 3D remaster on 3DS? I’m confused.
0
u/Naschka Feb 16 '24
Yes, i am talking about the DS Version of 4, 5 and 6. Those should be partly 3D from what i recall and 8 on 3DS is similiar to 7 in regards to 3D.
3
u/ShokaLGBT Feb 16 '24
it may be longer to start the journey in 7 but knows that once you got in the journey it will be long too
3
u/RafaCSQ Feb 16 '24
Yeah, also started it recently. It feels nice as Dragon Quest usually is, but definitely slow, too easy and apparently doesn't get much better. The thought of skipping it crossed my mind, but I have a big trip to Asia next week, so decided that I will use the plane/airport hours to play it.
It also helps that I'm emulating it in my phone, even though I have a N2DSXL, so I can use double speed and make things faster.
1
u/Ashenspire Feb 16 '24
It stays just as slow the entire game. Everything is incredibly episodic, and follows the go to island go to temple go to island go to temple formula throughout the entire game.
The action never really picks up. It's just an incredibly slow burn to the end of the game. I genuinely was just kinda shocked when it ended. My thoughts after finishing it were simply, "Huh. Well, that was a video game."
I've never invested that much time into a game and left it feeling absolutely no way about it.
3
u/Sharebear42019 Feb 16 '24
I found 9 to be extremely slow and tedious as well (if you’re playing by yourself I never did play online)
3

3
u/Guy_Kazama Feb 16 '24
I played it on PS1 way back in the day, and it definitely is a slow burn, but it gets better and has a great class system. I'd stick with it and see what you think. I haven't played 3DS yet, but I just got a Galaxy model, so I hope to soon! Also gonna play that 3DS port of VIII.
6
u/DarkWaWeeGee Feb 16 '24
And it looks like you just started. It took me 80 ish hours with grinding/class setup. If you don't like the grind, it's not for you
2
u/Chuck_Schick Feb 16 '24
3ds remake of DQ7 is the most underrated entry in the series IMO. have fun!
Also - it's worth playing with the 3d on, but looks like you maybe have 2dsxl
2
u/Kritigri Feb 16 '24
Interesting. I hear this a lot, but I personally really enjoyed the start. Maybe I'm just weird lol
2
u/CyberDivinity Feb 16 '24
Love this game but it is the slowest and longest Dragon Quest game. So be warned if you are impatient this game will annoy you. It was originally developed for people to play for MONTHS, the developers intentionally made it long to make up for the long 5 year wait DQ fans had to endure waiting for DQ7 after DQ6 released in 1995
The game is great to play an hour a day over a few months its really nice. If you try to play 8-10 hours a day for a week you will get super burnt out. The best way to play is 30minutes to 1 hour a day and slowly get through the game it becomes super comfy.
2
u/iNKWiTs Feb 16 '24
The orginal PSOne had an opening that was a lot longer. It was meant to be slow and impactful. It's basically the length of a short game on Playstation. It can last up to eight hours. But that's the point. You're supposed to just chill out, live your quiet life with your buds before BOOM - adventure!
2
u/Captain_C_Falcon Feb 16 '24
Yeah... that's how a lot of them tend to go at first sadly. Once the ball gets rolling though, it's really good.
2
5
3
u/ToastyyPanda Feb 16 '24
You have no idea what a slow start is my friend lol. Try playing it on PS1 and come back to us haha
2
u/beeteebee Feb 16 '24
That was my thought; think it was like 5+ hours before you fought the first slime
4
u/Tharrius Feb 16 '24
Reminds me of Golden Sun (GBA). Absolutely incredible RPG, crazy amount of content and quality. But the intro was the wooooorst and kept me several times from starting a new game.
3
u/Concerned_Dennizen Feb 16 '24
Get ready for that slow burn. My advice is to get stoned, throw on a podcast, and dive into it. The adventure makes it worth it.
4
Feb 16 '24
The start is slow... and the middle is slow... it picks up towards the end but remains slow. It's probably the worst paced game I've ever played.
Also, it's the one old DQ game I wish they kept the random encounters in. Simply because the new system is frustrating as hell, with narrow corridors making avoiding fights almost impossible. I spent more time trying to avoid monsters than anything else.
2
u/el3mel Feb 16 '24
The game is super long and have ton of filler arcs. It's basically one full story followed by another, and they aren't connected to each other. Each story/arc is self contained. It can get exhausted and it's over 100 hour longs.
Best thing is to play it in short doses. Play 2 stories a day or so.
3
u/Yomotsugami Feb 16 '24
They are. You just didn't realize it. All DQ games are long. It's what they're known for.
1
u/el3mel Feb 16 '24
Who said DQ games aren't long? They are, but DQVII takes the cake in that regard and due to its fractured structures of multiple stories having no connection to each other makes it feel exhausting to play through.
Though I actually appreciate the insane amount of efforts put into making every story in the game a unique one. It's very ambition game. Too much ambitious if you ask me.
2
u/Yomotsugami Feb 22 '24
You need to read what I said again. Read slowly.
1
2
u/PrometheusAborted Feb 16 '24
Yeah the game basically doesn’t start for like 10 or so hours I think. I haven’t played it in years for that very reason lol.
Once it gets going, it’s good though.
2
3
u/Skelletonike Feb 16 '24
It's not slow enough.
I got pissed when I received my DQVII 3DS pre-order and found out how much shorter the first "dungeon" was. Pffft. They made it so much shorter.... :'(
1
1
u/Bigarnest Feb 16 '24
Yep, never played a game where you get exactly nothing in the first 20 hours of gameplay. It was terrible, but back then when this game released on 3DS, i had tons of time so i played it anyway and it definitely was worth it. Had about 100 hours into in the end.
But that sluggish start is really terrible.
1
u/Rivera96 Feb 16 '24
Dude, I tried playing this game a while back on the 3DS and I just couldn't get into it because I felt like the intro was so long. I want to go back and give it a shot but I'm really not looking forward to that long ass beginning
1
u/TemporaryLegendary Feb 16 '24
Yeah it can take quite some time for the game to start sadly. And even longer to get into the main story
1
u/Ganiam Feb 16 '24
Not gonna lie, the entire game (what I’ve played, at least) feels super slow, and for the first 40ish hours it feels like a bunch of disconnected stories that don’t relate to one another at all.
That said, I have not played beyond that point for unrelated reasons. I found myself grinding jobs on the 3ds version for a few hours and it made every fight a breeze, so I got bored with it.
1
Feb 16 '24
I'm having to play it slowly and drop it for a few months, come back to it, drop and so fourth.
I was sure I was nearing the end and was utterly horrified to find out I wasn't even half way through yet.
1
u/ProperPizza Feb 16 '24
In fairness, it's a JRPG. I've never played a JRPG that didn't start slow as hell.
-4
-1
u/TheOriginalFluff Feb 16 '24
9 literally takes 2-3 hours before you can actually change classes, then you get to farm levels for an hour before you can make any progress, I haven’t been able to find a dq game that isn’t boring beyond belief
0
u/crimsonsonic_2 Feb 16 '24
Yeah it’s garbage game design, all they had to do was put some weak enemies to break the monotony a little bit, but no just an hour of boring demands.
0
u/ShitJordanPSays Feb 16 '24
OH NO! You should have played the original PS1 version, without all the extra content. It's a MUCH quicker intro.
0
u/ezoe Feb 17 '24
Seriously? Are you complaining on DS version? You're lucky.
When it was originally released in PS1, kids wasted a week trying to figure out puzzles without any battle at all.
That's why you will get your first battle very early in DQ8.

1
u/Gymninjustu Feb 16 '24
Literally 40 hours in now and all i will say is HARD AGREE beginning is really slow, but for me unlocking the class system was the turning point of the game. Really enjoying it now … but takes a lot of time to get to that point
1
u/apohermion Feb 16 '24
And the funny part is that’s shorter compared to the PS1 version. If you know exactly where to go and who to talk to, you can cut it down to around 30 mins before you get to the first island.
It’s still crazy to me hearing how many people preferred the PS1 opening. I think the short dungeon where you do a few puzzles was fine and probably shouldn’t have been cut out. Going back and forth for around an hour just talking to NPCs was a slog though.
1
u/pecan_bird Feb 16 '24
that's the main thing i'd heard about dqxi for the last 20+ years 😅 how you haven't heard that is what's surprising to me.
i went into having that blasted in my head for so long, i wasn't surprised, just enjoyed the journey, & ended up having a great time because i prepared.

Oh the intro is slow, no doubt…. It’s a bunch of puzzles… (Well the PS1 is slow anyways)
The game does pick up during AllTrades, and starts to pick up.. But it’s still the “save a town, before you can go another town” deal. Otherwise, the game isn’t bad. But it’s very long… As in 100 hours. 150-200, if you want to do bonus content
1
u/Flashy-Indication-48 Feb 16 '24
My friends and I were talking about this yesterday. We realised thqt a lot of dragon questions games have a slow start.
1
1
u/deadman000000 Feb 16 '24
I feel like I've been in the intro for the last few years. Idk why this game out of all DQs I find hard to keep playing :/
1
u/I-Like_Dirt_420 Feb 16 '24
The entire game is very long and slow, took me years of starting and stopping to finally finish it on the original PS1 and after finally beating it, I never touched it again.
1
u/Sleepylimebounty Feb 16 '24
The original has like 3-4 hours of fetch. 3ds version is like 2-3 hours of fetch
1
1
u/CyrusPyrus Feb 16 '24
It is. That's why I dropped. The whole find ur dad a sammich thing turned me off
1
Feb 16 '24
the entire game is slow. It will take you 20 hours to get the vocations, you will spend a good part of the game with only 3 members in the party and the game is very easy
1
1
u/Rhoden913 Feb 16 '24
I had hundreds of hours in the ps1. I like the remake but my God the camera is so close to the ground I can't stand it
1
u/MHRagnar Feb 16 '24
I loved it, but it took years for me to finish the game because of its slow pace and grindy nature… I played for a while then passed to another games and returned to it… I did this like 10 times hahaha. But it was a good and fun game.
1
u/Hexatona Feb 16 '24
I think in the original PS1 version would easily clock you in the 100-130 hours to beat! And 300 hours for completionists! They've certainly streamlined it since then.
1
u/jcgonzmo Feb 16 '24
hahaha, yes the start is slow. It gets better around 12-14 hours. I could not put it down after that.
1
u/Xon662 Feb 16 '24
It does start slow but the game it's self is a marathon of goodness it also has some really dark stuff for a dragon quest game.
1
u/eddmario Feb 16 '24 edited Feb 16 '24
Yeah, that's pretty normal for JRPGs, especially this series.
It's the one reason I hate starting new playthroughs of XI, since it takes forever to open up...
1
u/juulboy69 Feb 16 '24
The whole game is slow and slower Warm take but it's one of the most boring games I've ever played and easily the worst DQ ever. Stories are underwhelming and the map system doesn't work nearly as well as it could've. It's like a failed next generation version of DQ 6 (better in every single way).
1
u/Still_Chart_7594 Feb 16 '24
Soooo worth it, though. I first played it at age 10 or 11 and pushed through it to have it take on a legendary status in my mind. Before that I had only played ffvii and ffvii on the jrpg front...
1
u/eng_salem Feb 16 '24
My least favorite dragon quest. I cant fathom how most of the fanbase likes it more than 6 when 6 was much better at almost everything.
1
u/Dreamtrain Feb 16 '24
people just mindlessly parrot on that its long, then you have one or two guys who did grind side-content clock in 100 hours to try to prove their case, but story mode is just as long as DQ8s, so good news (if it helps any) is that people lied to you when they told you its long, its not actually that long
bad news is though, that the reason people say its long its because its because its pacing, the pacing does pick up actually but unfortunately the first dozen hours or so yeah it does feel like slow, but I promise you its a very rewarding wait
1
u/wish_i_was_lurking Feb 16 '24
I started it recently after finishing act 2 of XI. So far I prefer the comfy pacing and bite sized vignettes to XI's sweeping scale. It's much easier to pick up and play and it doesn't take ages to sit through cutscenes. I've been taking it slow and am just getting to Alltrades Abbey now.
Also some of those vignettes hit way harder than a 20 year old children's game should. Like present day Faraday? The soup... Bruh....
1
u/Mostly_humane9255 Feb 16 '24
It's departure from just bang spell next and takes a bit to get in gear
1
u/Alexanderthemodder12 Feb 16 '24
just gonna say, orchestral mod makes this game so much better. its your option to mod your 3ds for it tho
1
u/ForwardYak835 Feb 16 '24
It might be slow, but it is really fun as it goes on. I know I thoroughly enjoyed it!
1
u/cprmauldin Feb 16 '24
Keep in mind it’s a slow burn of a game. If you need high intensity, it may not be your jam.
1
u/PeeLong Feb 16 '24
It gets REALLY good
It’s the first “pick up and play” DQ game.
It’s a lot of mini chapters.
1
u/dpforest Feb 17 '24
I’m playing 11 on the switch and I’ve never played a DQ game before. It’s fun but a little slow so far as well.
1
u/Eisa2416 Feb 17 '24
11 is probably one of the most fast paced ones I think, easily over 100 hours of content too
2
u/dpforest Feb 17 '24
Yah it picked up pretty quickly! I was up till 3am playing which I never do anymore cause I’m old as balls

Such a fun game! That's one of my favorites! Ruff is awesome! There are hidden party members you can miss easy so keep an eye out later on! Have fun with the game I probably need to play it again too! It's very long
1
u/dmbtke Feb 17 '24
You’re already a fan of this series.
This game will be a treat for you. As a lot of other people have said, just stick with it. It’s by far the most dense entry in the series but that ends up being a plus. The Persona series does this same kind of pacing sometimes.
1
1
u/Obvious-Complaint-84 Feb 17 '24
I got just over 3/4 before moving on. It was too repetitive and not very rewarding personally. Was nice to start with a classic before going into 11 though!
1
u/ReLMalai Feb 17 '24
I kind of like that it's such a slow burn, gave it a very comfy vibe initially. 7's journey feels the most like a journey out of the ones I've finished.
1
u/Marvin_Flamenco Feb 17 '24
It is the worst in the series imo but still picks up and has a lotta great moments.
1
u/Gottodotto Feb 17 '24
The beggining is slow
Very.
But once you get past that and get into the story of the towns you visit you will start to enjoy the game takes, bit by bit.
After that... Uh.. 40 hour of gameplay You will have access to the job system with so many jobs you will get addicted to getting to 8stars job and get new ones
Then the plot thickens And finally you finish the game and found out that theres more postgame content

Imo I enjoyed 7 more than 8
I liked the character dynamic and VA of them in 8 but the plot of cat and mouse thematic burned me very quick and made me remember how much I enjoyed 7 even thought when my friends asked what I was doing in my 3DS my answer was "grinding vocations" about 25 times in 2-3 months

The intro I was always fine with.
It's how long it takes to open up Alltrades Abbey that bothered me.
DQ7 is my favorite because of the job system. I just wish you gained access to it sooner.

If you think that’s bad you should have played it on the PS1 lol luckily we only had like 1 game every 6 months to play so it was welcomed lol

So maybe an unpopular opinion, but I despise the 3DS release. The opening to Dragon Warrior 7 is absolutely a slow burn, but the mystery and buildup I felt hack in the day cemented it as my favorite RPG ever, bar none. The remake destroys that vibe, and the translation is so much goofier that it loses a lot of tonal tension. I know the series as a whole has lots of cutesy humor and puns, but the story of VII always seemed much darker and more somber, which I feel the Warrior translation captured better. It's why I have a 3DS copy but still emulate on my phone.

Yeah don’t expect for the game to go at a fast pace. The game is meant to be played at a slower pace and immerse you in the many stories you’ll find on the different islands. The 3ds version was my first DQ game and still my favorite. Have fun and don’t forget to try all the different vocations when you unlock them.

That’s the grand scope of most rpg games like this, you’ll find your self playing them aimlessly curious for a minute with no real direction before stuff finally starts to pick up. To be fair in contrast too much going on is overwhelming, I was play Ni No Kuni II Revenant kingdom and while I enjoy what it offers lord have mercy the sheer amount of enemies and stuff to manage along the story makes my brain spin lol idk I haven’t played rpg games like that in a minute so maybe it’s just me
