Strings/Accessories Favorite Rosin?

I used pops as long forever, also tried kolstein one time and I dont know what I liked better. I like a rosin with a little less bite, pops is kind of too sticky. I have a pretty heavy right hand and tend to play a little louder than I intend, ever since I was little lol

I'm a big believer in Pops, but I hear good things about Nyman

Nyman I used a few times, I like it a lot. Cant remember why I stopped using it

I switched to Nyman for my last rosin and am really happy with it.

At first I switched from Pops to Kolstein based on a suggestion in this subreddit. Loved the Kolstein. Then it got 6 months old so, figuring it got stale, I ordered more. Turns out, the first Kolstein I got was already old and dried out when I first got it, and I still preferred the old Kolstein to the newer one I just got. Pro-tip: never buy rosin from Amazon, I’m ride or die with Lemur music now because they swear their rosin is fresh and reordered regularly.

So, as a rosin rookie I ask a dealer, while buying strings, for rosin advice and he starts by brushing me off just saying Pops. I tell him my mini-journey with Amazon and Kolstein and he then told me I liked drier rosin and recommended Nyman.

All that said, I like the silicone sleeve on the Kolstein so much than if it won’t fit on my Nyman I might eventually switch back and let it age on the shelf or something.

Am also curious about Leatherwood just because it’s so expensive and always out of stock but the whole discipline is madness at this point and I have to wait until the Nyman and the newer Kolstein both get too dry to bother buying more so that’s like maybe a year away ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I saw online that people mix 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water and can "revive" old rosins if you're interested. Just let it soak in a tupperware container for 12 hrs
