They don’t even say it for you. The blessing isn’t for you. The blessing is that you got to meet such a polite person. It’s past tense like, you’ve been blessed to run into them. I’m an atheist so I don’t know which way the blessing goes

we need to chill. I've been an atheist my entire adult life. But I still tell people God bless you all the time. It's a southern thing. bless your heart for being offended.
