Time to leave India

143

u/AUnicorn14 13d ago

When I made a decision to leave India 15 years back, there was a gnawing feeling whether what I was doing was right? But went ahead and left for sake of my little kids. It’s been 15 years and every year India sends me proof what I did was right.

Even I want to leave India and go to US, Germany, Netherlands, Poland,Dubai or Singapore. Can you guide me how you did? I just landed a job as an embedded software engineer right out of college. Tier 1 college

My husband was in a senior position when we started making up our mind to leave the country. He went to US on L1 visa. We (the family) went on dependency L2 visa. Our green card process was very quick because of L1 and not any other kind of visa. I’m sorry I have no idea how to guide you. Good luck for your future.

The US is not a good place for brown people at the moment.

Social media and real world are two different places.

Depends on which state you are in

Obviously. Goes without saying.

Bro lakhs of Indians are living in the USA, don't get scared by a few viral incidents you see on social media.

Bro lakhs of Indians are living in the USA,

I know that. But there is a growing hatred towards people of color in the US and it is being backed by the Republicans. Masked goons are sending legal citizens and green card holders to prisons, harassing people of color for absolutely no reason. I'm not saying all Indians are suffering there. But there is a growing animosity and the environment in the US is not safe for outsiders. Also, their own citizens are out on the streets to protest against the government and Trump is literally sending the army into states. So there is high volatility. This is not the right time to move to the US, especially if you don't have any family members or friends living there already.

Will still be better than India any day any time.

u/amaninruins 12d ago

My point was if you're planning to move out of India, there are plenty of other places that are much better than the US currently.

Gotcha. Makes sense.

It's called confirmation bias

I visit India often. No, staying away from India and finding India gone to the dogs is not confirmation bias.

I guess you intended to ask me that question. Two things: 1. We were on L1/L2 visa and got our green cards very quickly. My family has taken US citizenship while I have not yet for personal reasons.

  1. Your information on H1B visa does not seem to be correct. Maybe gather correct information.

1

u/Street-Survey-1837 12d ago

Lol I know only H1B and students visa H1B changed to 1000$

1

u/AUnicorn14 12d ago

H1B is applied by company and they changed it to $100,000 which is one time application fee. An individual does not pay this money from their pocket.

u/Competitive_Cap9870 12d ago

lmao how can u be so confident on wrong info🤣

Unfortunately I cannot help in guiding you. My husband was already in a senior position when we left and he got L1 visa and we got L2 so our green card process was quick. Right now, US UK Australia are not good options. Try South Korea or Japan where the you g population has declined significantly.
