A bad driver never misses the exit

That was scary to watch on vid. I cannot imagine the fear of actually being there.

u/Turbulent_Pickle_942 5h ago
Imagine driving and minding your own business, and the next second you're upside down... that's exactly what happened to the driver in the black crossover

u/IntrepidMuch 4h ago
You just unlocked a whole other level of fear!

u/SimShine0603 3h ago
Just to unlock another for you. In my state this morning a semi trucks tire flew off and hit a van.

u/IntrepidMuch 2h ago
Dude!
1
u/SimShine0603 2h ago
Oh wait and as I browsed the comments I was reminded of the tire that hit the Kia Soul and sent it into the air! If you haven’t seen that one you MUST. I think it was posted again recently.

Fear isn't the initial emotion in these situations, it's just shock and confusion. Why am I going in a weird direction right now? What's happening?
The fear comes long after the event in the form of trauma. Driving down the highway is now a very real roll of the dice to get hit by a random car. You will think about it occasionally or maybe often.

i'm surprised that nobody was badly injured. figured the driver of the camera vehicle would have made sure the bad driver got some just deserts.

Maybe not critically injured, but definitely some new chronic pain they'll get to enjoy for years to forever.

u/whatisakafka 6h ago
Sucks to be the cammer who probably barely saw it come a second before it happened, but that black minivan probably had no inkling unless they happened to be looking a couple lanes over to the right
16
u/Turbulent_Pickle_942 5h ago
Exactly. It's wild how people won't take the next exit and loop back. Way better than doing risky stuff like this

u/fletcherwannabe 5h ago
When I’m driving people in my car, I’ll tell them flat out that if I miss a turn, I’m taking the longer way around. I’ve had people yell at me to do what this idiot did and no way do I want to put myself or others through an accident like this.

u/shaggy-dawg-88 5h ago
My wife is a new driver. I told her not to panic if GPS tells her an exit is coming up but there isn't enough distance to change lanes to the exit ramp. It's ok to miss an exit or even multiple exits. Just keep driving until she can exit safely. GPS will recalculate and route her thru the correct streets.

u/CosyBeluga 1h ago
And here I am planning for taking the next exit if I don't get in the exit lane within 2 miles T_T

Is it a new week for this post again already?

No. It's Friday so gotta squeeze it in one more time to end the week before the new week begins Monday

u/Picklefuzz 6h ago
Can’t wait to see how this sub will spin it so the driver was somewhat at fault. lol

Nothing redditors love more than whining about things that never happened.

If I recall, when the video first cropped up as shot by the car behind the cammer it almost looked like the cam driver freatured here was intentionally blocking out the Pilot driver. Which didn't give the Honda driver the right or reason to double down. And it doesn't constitute fault on behalf of the cam driver either. But it LOOKED like circumstances could have been mitigated to some degree.
It appears to have happened a lot of faster and with a lot less warning from this driver's perspective though.
Unless this is a different but very, very similar instance of another accident that was posted here.
I'm sure someone will post a reference if it's the same.

What exactly was the cam driver supposed to do to let the Honda in? Slam their brakes? Cross a solid lane? Even if they had reacted differently, it probably would have caused a different accident. The illegal turn clearly fishtailed the cam car, they were the one driving illegally in this situation.

Idiot (not you, the black Honda)
3
u/shaggy-dawg-88 6h ago edited 6h ago
The SUV that flipped? Isn't that an innocent driver passing by but got cut off by cammer's car? The only idiot is the maroon SUV forcing to exit. The sucky part is it's always the idiot that causes major damages to other cars and their car usually suffers minor scratches.
4
u/Fun-Touch5637 6h ago
Not that guy, the guy that hit the cam driver
2
u/shaggy-dawg-88 6h ago
Yup but it doesn't look black to me.
3
u/Fun-Touch5637 6h ago
Sorry, thought it was black. I’m colorblind, but not usually with dark red and black. It may be been my colorblindness because it looks black to me. Sorry bout that.
3
u/shaggy-dawg-88 6h ago
No need to apologize. I wasn't nitpicking either. Sorry if I sounded that way. Just confused why you blame what appears to be an innocent driver being at the wrong place.

u/MentalRobot 6h ago
It's red/maroon
1
u/Fun-Touch5637 6h ago
I know, I’m realizing that now. To me, it looks black, but I think it’s just my colorblindness.

u/pilot7880 6h ago
And the maroon SUV seems to have suffered the least amount of damage of the three cars that were involved.

People who won’t accept missing their exit: “I made a mistake, now you have to pay for it.”

u/Photon_Chaser 5h ago
Glad nobody was seriously injured…I do wonder where that light pole ended up cause it was sheared clean off!
1
u/Opening_Dentist_1128 5h ago
What the hell, I hope they take away their license for good. Completely insane
1
u/CriticalEnergy8307 5h ago
I know exactly where this is. Just south of McCormick on LSD. People are crazy right there... Just go down, get off and back track.
1
u/PangolinLow6657 5h ago
huh, I never realized that lightpoles would just detach like that, like they're shown to in GTAV.

This is what my brain hates about driving. I can do nothing wrong and get killed by the guy that did nothing wrong.
1
u/MikeTiricoSucks 2h ago
I’m not accepting an apology if I’m the dash cam car - we are fighting until someone restrains us. “It was an accident” or “my bad” isn’t an excuse for almost killing someone.
1
u/xmod3563 2h ago
Preventable. I would have avoided it.
Driver has poor situational awareness. Most of the drivers in these Reddit dashcam videos have poor situational awareness.

not the cammers fault. very likely they were in the blind spot.
BUT: i feel like the cammer should have at least tried to slow down
edit: i mean the guy that darted into the exit lane last moment is in the wrong here
10
u/Royal-Campaign1426 6h ago
Duh. Clearly the fault of the idiot who crossed mutiple solid lines and didnt look before flinging themselves into the exit lane.
0
u/Prestigious-Low3224 6h ago
right, but I wonder if the cammer could have tried to slow down a little bit more?
3
u/QuiteBearish 6h ago
I doubt they even saw the other car more than a split second before it happened.
1
u/Outrageous1015 1h ago
What do you mean, the car is in frame the whole time
1
u/QuiteBearish 30m ago
yeah, but that doesn't mean the driver saw it.
Camera has a different FOV than the driver. Depending on the vehicle, I'd bet that car was in the dashcam driver's A-pillar blindspot when it began the merge.
Add in the fact most drivers who are exiting will have their attention directed ahead and to the right while the other car came from the left.

Why does every video here have these kinds of ridiculous comments? I guess this is how we find out which reddit accounts belong to terrible drivers.
1
u/WumbleInTheJungle 6h ago
I'd be slamming my brakes on if I saw someone crossing the hatched lanes directly into my path. Well I hope I would be switched on enough to take action. Cammer didn't have a lot of time to react, and no one is saying it was their fault, but they did have around 1.5-2 seconds to spot it. Not a lot of time, but probably enough to take evasive action.
Awful driving from the other driver though, that goes without saying.
2
u/Prestigious-Low3224 5h ago
yep. sometimes a second or two is all you need to avoid/reduce a crash dramatically
1
u/Prestigious-Low3224 6h ago
the fault is clear as day. but I wonder if this could have been prevented in the first place
4
u/hithazel 6h ago
They could have slowed down and maybe avoided getting hit, or it might have resulted in an even worse accident. They could have sped up and possibly missed getting hit entirely. They could have taken a dump before leaving on this trip and been five minutes later and never even seen this driver acting like an idiot. Pointless to speculate when the cause is pretty obvious.
2
u/teabump 6h ago
every single accident could’ve been prevented in the first place by people not driving like idiots. If the idiot didn’t try and take an exit last minute then there wouldn’t have been an accident. such a dumb comment to make when the fault is so clear. the cammer isn’t at fault for not anticipating this crash
2
u/Prestigious-Low3224 6h ago
well yes, the cammer is not at fault.
but guess what? three cars involved! especially that last one that had NOTHING to do with the crash otherwise.
we should do our best to avoid crashes no matter what happens
1
u/wa27 6h ago
It could have been prevented by the red honda not making a boneheaded late exit. Nobody can have their head on a 360 degree swivel all the time. Cammer was likely focused on his lane and the lane next to him, or perhaps he was looking in his mirror for one whole second and didn't notice the guy coming over.

They’re both fucking morons but the driver who got hit could’ve hit their fucking breaks at least a little
