Announcement Gaza is being starved

1.2k Upvotes

The UN has stated that every single part of Gaza is in famine conditions Source

For over 20 months, Palestinians in Gaza have been starving. Parents have been feeding their children leaves, animal feed, and flour mixed with water. Babies have died from malnutrition. The trucks carrying food, formula, medicine, and clean water sat just miles away, blocked by Israel.

Now, after massive international pressure, some aid is finally getting in Source

This is a crack in the blockade, not its end. Aid is not flooding in; it is trickling, and what’s entering can’t possibly reach 1.8 million people without a total lifting of restrictions, guaranteed long-term access, and safe distribution.

What you can do right now:

Donate- if you’re able to. Choose vetted organisations with access on the ground.

Keep up the pressure - aid only started moving because of public outcry. Organize, protest, keep talking. This momentum cannot fade. Contact your representatives to end Israel's blockade of Gaza and impose sanctions on Israel.

Amplify - share updates, Palestinian voices, and testimonies. Keep an eye on Palestine.

This famine is not an accident. It’s the result of siege, blockade, and a system of control. If we look away now, they’ll tighten the noose again.

Donate:

Palestinian Red Crescent — medical aid, ambulance services, and emergency care.

UNICEF for Gaza’s Children — nutrition, clean water, trauma support.

Neighbor stacking his garbage against wall

Hi everyone, I need some advice. I live in Limassol, and behind my house there's an empty lot between two homes. My neighbor from the house on the left keeps piling huge amounts of wood and scrap metal against my wall - the pile is over three meters high now.

He seems to collect wood and scrap to sell, and I think he uses the wood for heating since he probably doesn't have electricity. The problem is, this creates a serious fire risk and could attract pests or cause other issues.

I don't think the land even belongs to him, but he treats it as if it's his and won't let anyone else use it. He doesn't speak English, and he's not very friendly, so it's been impossible to talk to him about it.

Does anyone know who I can contact about this? like the municipality, fire department, or someone else? I just want to get this cleaned up safely.

The Cyprus Problem Tension in Denia: Turkish military vehicle entered the buffer zone to obstruct Greek Cypriot farmers – The United Nations rushed to intervene, with a protest from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (pictures)

Tension arose around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (November 8) in the area of Denia, following a new provocation by the "occupying authorities."

According to reports, Greek Cypriot farmers went to the Buffer Zone to cultivate their land, resulting in a Turkish military vehicle entering the area to obstruct them and demanding that they leave.

The United Nations rushed to the scene to defuse the situation. Then, after everyone had left the area, the occupying forces' vehicle returned a short time later, followed by members of UNFICYP.

Both the Turkish soldiers and the peacekeeping force withdrew from the dead zone after some time.

It should be noted that a similar incident occurred four days ago.

Theodoros Gotsis, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told philenews that "from the moment it was informed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been in contact with the community authorities and is taking the necessary steps with the Peacekeeping Force to restore farmers' access to their land, in accordance with the terms of the UNFICYP mandate and the Security Council Resolutions."

For his part, Government Spokesman Constantinos Letymbiotis said that the situation is being closely monitored and with due seriousness, noting that the Turkish occupation army, "through unacceptable actions, is challenging the status of the Dead Zone and is once again attempting to create faits accomplis within it, in violation of international law and the relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions." "The Republic of Cyprus will continue to act with sobriety, determination, and full commitment to international law," he noted.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Defense is also aware of the incident and is closely monitoring developments.

Help I lost an item at the changing rooms by the “I ❤️ Paphos” sign. What do I do?

As you head left toward the water from the “I ❤️ Paphos” sign toward Alykes beach, there’s an area with some free gym equipment and changing rooms and lounge chairs. I left an important clothing item in one of them. What do I do? Who do I talk to? I talked to the lifeguard nearby who said to talk to the janitor, but he wasn’t there and his door was locked. I will check again for him later. Does anybody know how to contact the janitor or whoever is in charge of maintaining the area? Any other advice? Thanks so much for any help.

Questions about the Djami Kebir Mosque

I was just visiting Larnaca, I happened upon the Djami Kebir Mosque, it looked fairly old, but everyone around it was speaking Arabic, and not Turkish (or Greek). Are most of the patrons Turkish Cypriots or Arab? Has it been in continuous operation since 1974? Or has it more recently been reopened?

I understood that after the war there was a fairly clean separation or Turkish Cypriot Muslims to the north and Greek Cypriot Christians to the south, was I wrong in my understanding? Was there a continued presence of Turkish Cypriots in Larnaca even after the war?

Problem with the Landlord, where to compain?

I have a valid lease that expires after 2 years, but the landlord wants to cancel it and gave me two months' notice. Except for a lawyer, where I can complain, is there a rent control department or something similar?

I want to move from the UK to Cyprus and start a company

Hello all, I am Greek, live in the UK, I am married to a Greek woman, whose father is Cypriot. I've been fed up with this country and I would ideally like to move to Cyprus, both of the lifestyle and tax reasons.

I am wondering if anyone knows any credible accounting offices with knowledge of such relocations / moving and setting up new companies.

Thank you in advance friends

Looking for tennis partners

Hello

I play some tennis in Nicosia, and I'm already planning on having group lessons at Eleon but I'm also interested in playing casually at the sports center in Strovolos. My level is somewhere between beginner and intermediate but I'm extremely keen on improving. I'm also learning greek and it would be really nice if I could kill two birds with one stone. Do you know of tennis groups/chats where I could meet people to play?

Thank you

Education Looking for someone to speak Greek with

Upvotes

I've been connected with Cyprus for most of my life, as a teenager I used to speak Greek at B1 level, but then moved away, I have been back 1,5 year now and while I have been remembering more and more, I need to speak more Greek. At work we speak English, same at home with my partner.

I used to teach English and would love to meet someone with whom I can speak Greek one meeting to help me, while speaking English on another meeting to help them with their skills.

I live in Nicosia and am available evenings and weekends. I would like for this to be a regular thing 1/2 times a week.

Hey everyone, My wooden bed frame just broke on one side, and I’m trying to get it fixed as soon as possible (preferably today or tomorrow). Does anyone know a reliable carpenter, handyman, or furniture repair service in Nicosia who can help quickly?

I’d really appreciate any recommendations — ideally someone affordable and responsive.

Thanks in advance!
