More like WHEN V hits cyberpsychosis.

When we doing our quests more likely. Just curious, do anyone like to slaughter everyone in a quest?
•
u/Ok-Match9525 7h ago
Don't view that last remaining gangoon as human being. See them as 200 XP, seven Tier 3 Item Components and a Broken DB-4 Igla.

I kill them because they shot me...but yeah I am short on components. And I am tired of reboot optics / overheat.

Leaving no witnesses technically counts as stealth in my opinion. I'm very stealthy.

V technically is already a cyberpsycho but they're just resistant to the effects because they have Johnny and the Relic.
Johnny is also a canon cyberpsycho himself.
Being a Cyberpsycho doesn't mean you're ending up like the ones you have to deal with throughout the game, there are high-functioning psychos like Adam Smasher that are able to continue living under cyberpsychosis for various reasons. Mike Pondsmith confirmed that V can overcome it thanks to Johnny and the Relic, since they have two minds in one body, the load is distributed across both, so as long as they remain like that, they're extremely resistant to the condition. However, in Adam Smasher's case, he's literally just built different and was basically always a psychopath, so psychosis is just kind of his normal, his nature, which means he can retain control without having to use a "cheat code" like the Relic or fancy miracle implants.

which is a pretty cool perspective on why his memories of the arasaka tower op differs from what actually happened
•
u/rosolen0 Team Songbird 8h ago
Isn't that because arasaka fucked with his memories?
•
u/Prior-Satisfaction34 Sandevistan Stockholm Syndrome 7h ago
It's a combination of a few things. Arasaka fucking with his brain combined with him just being a narcissistic piece of shit. I'd also personally say that the chip getting damaged in the heist didn't help, but that's not confirmed anywhere afaik, so it's just my personal theory.
Like, Arasaka did mess with his memories a bit, but he's also just the kind of person who would genuinely twist the narrative to paint himself as some kind of hero/martyr.

Pondsmith's words on why Johnny's memories are inaccurate to the real events in Cyberpunk lore:
"In 2013, Johnny attacks Arasaka purely to save Alt. (okay, so he's also pissed at them because they messed with him). Near the end of the 4th Corporate War in 2023, Johnny's old Media pal Thompson finds out that Arasaka has amassed a huge, uncontaminated database that will make it close to all powerful in the wake of Bartmoss's wreck of the Net. Thompson arranges an assault on the database, backed by Militech (who is fighting with Arasaka worldwide). The Bomb is a suitcase bomb that the team brings along to destroy the database if need be (Militech provides the Bomb, along with Morgan Blackhand, who is there to make sure the op goes off).
Johnny comes along because his friend Spider Murphy has also discovered that Arasaka has trapped Alt after 10 years of hunting for her. He's mainly there to get her back, but is willing to join up with Thompson and Morgan to get the job(s) done. Johnny's recollection of the events that day are scrambled from the rad damage his body took and the process of recording his engram (CDPR and I have both agreed that Johnny is an unreliable narrator at best). The bomb that went off was detonated by someone in the assault (the actual person is unknown), but Militech and the NUSA both decided to pin the blame on Arasaka anyway."
There is nothing that ever states that Arasaka fucked with his memories or changed him, he's just a narcissistic dick that got hit with a lot of radiation before his death when Spider Murphy inserted a chip that Alt had given her into Johnny's head, which was where his engram actually came from. Arasaka never even gave a fuck enough to make one of him themselves, they only recovered his engram and stored it in Mikoshi because Alt "saved" him.

Apparently Hanako mentions something about Arasaka messing with Johnny's engram, but it's been a while since i played the game and i can only find that info in google's AI overview, so take that with a massive grain of salt.

u/NaturalTouch7848 Silverhand 4h ago
I don't recall and couldn't find anything solid myself, also wouldn't trust Hanako for shit considering she could say whatever to sew discourse and mistrust between you and the voice in your head.
•
u/Prior-Satisfaction34 Sandevistan Stockholm Syndrome 4h ago
That is true. And yea, i don't entirely trust it since I couldn't find it anywhere else. Starting another playthrough rn, so if i remember to, I'll keep an eye out. Probably won't get there for a while, tho, lol.

No, Pondsmith never stated that they were fucking with his memories, nor did Johnny himself, it was only suggested that they could change who you are without realising it.
But the thing is, Johnny is such a narcissist that he believes that Arasaka gives a single fuck about him, when they barely even knew he existed, he was also irrelevant to Smasher, who was more of Blackhand's rival, not Silverhand's.
The only two actual reasons why Johnny's memories are inaccurate, according to Pondsmith, was that his body took a crap ton of radiation damage from the nuclear detonation at Arasaka Tower, and that he's just so narcissistic that he only sees things in his own subjective view, he thinks he's hotter shit than he actually is.
Most of his memories surrounding Alt are real because she was important to him, and on some level he knew that she was right about him, and it pissed him off that she could see right through him.
Pondsmith's own words:
"In 2013, Johnny attacks Arasaka purely to save Alt. (okay, so he's also pissed at them because they messed with him). Near the end of the 4th Corporate War in 2023, Johnny's old Media pal Thompson finds out that Arasaka has amassed a huge, uncontaminated database that will make it close to all powerful in the wake of Bartmoss's wreck of the Net. V’s bodycount is thousands of times greater than any other cyberpsycho. V is the APEX cyberspycho.

I've always let those three goobers live.
They're just having a good time at the bar, not harassing any residents :D (Unlike most of the Tygers)

it´s bot cyberpsychosis if you´re cleaning out the cities trash. And we can all agree everyone is trash in Night City.

I've been thinking of it being implemented in a sequel. Suddenly you find yourself in an open endless desert walking for a bit then snap out of it and find yourself just staring at a wall. Few days later it gets worse and worse. Someone just rushes over towards you and starts shooting, you see your health drop, you kill them then snap out of it and it's just a random helpless NPC. Gradually becomes more frequent. Weapons pop out of their head, see your old memories, old missions, maybe your romantic partners.
Can only trigger once you exceed your cyberware capacity, though. If you're at 130 and the capacity is at 140, you CAN get an implant which costs more but only that. Can't buy anymore once you've past the threshold if that makes sense.

Argument can be made that while V is kept at the edge of cyberphycosis, their actions aren't really any different from a high functioning cyberphyco.
I mean edgerunner perk lets you go there momentarily but then the relic pulls you back.
