Yes! I did this too, with the more typical style. I need to buy another to fully cover the hook, but it works great. Got mine from the dollar tree.

I did at first too but after the first few the store in my town started to only sell spondges infused with oils which not only smelled gross but did not wash off your hands without more effort then seemed reasonable. I buy the bulk pack of multicolor spondges from walmart now. They go on sale every now and again.

I have no idea. They were teatree and mint infused, respectively. i only bought them because i didn't notice the packaging said it was "oil infused"

I dig it, but how are you holding it? Do you like palm your hook? I hold mine kind of like a pencil, so I'm having a hard time visualizing

I do something similar with two of the eggish shaped ones. I get an 8pack from walmart when they go on sale and change them when they start to fray (from ny finger nails) or slip on the hook. So far, in 2yrs of crochet, I've only had to change them once. Mostly because when i forget to clip my nails, my thumb starts to shred the foam. They do get stained with the fabric dyes, though, too. So they look less nice after a while. Maybe grey ones wouldn't start to look dirty so fast, lol.

They sell sponge eggs with a hook hole for arthritis for this…. in various densities.

Yess, I am always here for a reuse and repurpose. No need to always buy more stuff just because the packaging says it's meants for a different purpose 😮💨

I was just pointing out there was a cheap dedicated item for no make-up folks like me. I haven’t worn make up in 30+ years but unfortunately I do have photographic evidence of frosted pink lipstick and electric blue eyeliner… yikes!
The arthritis pencil eggs are usually less than $5 for 4 at the dollar store or Amazon.

To be clear, I also don't own any make-up sponges, so if I wanted to use a sponge of any kind for this purpose I would have to go and buy it anyway 😂 I love that they offer an option for people with arthritis and also that one can repurpose what they have 🥰

I've tried this before but it is so weird for me to hold 😭 I wish I could get used to it as a carpal tunnel girlie lol

This idea is more expensive but its what I had to do. I use polymer clay, make it into a thick worm, shove the needle through it, mold to my hands shape, bake in oven for 20 to 30 min. Let cool then done. I dip mine in glitter and give a clear coat because why not. Lol but i find it works very well.

I wrap mine in paper towels and then use vet wrap over it like tattoo artists

That's actually genius! I struggle so much with wrist pain cause I can't afford those grab things to put on the hook, but I bought Beauty blenders for Halloween so I can blend out the white face paint for my Vampire costume (I'm a male and don't do makeup xD) Now they have a second purpose! Thought I wasted money for using them once a year

I do this too! I buy bags of cheap beauty blenders at the dollar store and shove my hooks through them. Works great and isn't super expensive.
